He is incredibly proud of his work on the factory’s automation, especially a machine nicknamed the "Magic Roundabout." I’m looking for any photos or scans that might help bring those memories to life for him:

• The "Magic Roundabout": Any shots of this or similar assembly/indexing machines.
• The Factory: Photos of the engineering offices or production floor (1970–2010).
• The Team: Candid shots of the engineering department, staff presentations, or old company newsletters.

I hope someone might be able to help or point me in the right direction 

As our Grandad (Sep Kidd) was Chairman of The Mechanics, wor Allan and I went to nearly all the home matches and a great many of the away fixtures when we were growing up in the 1950’s and into the 1960’s. 

Wor Allan and I contend that Bedlington Mechanics FC played their home games at Milne Park, certainly through the mid-1950’s to the early 1960’s. The land was owned by local entrepreneur Jimmy Milne and he rented the land to the football club. We think that when Jimmy Milne sold his store to Blyth Co-op, then the football ground was also sold, later to become the Vulcan Place Car Park and The Mechanics then had to re-locate to the Station Welfare Park. We are not sure exactly when this happened, so we would appreciate anyone who is able to add more details of the move.

We are pretty sure that they kept the name Mechanics for the first season or so at The Station Welfare. If you look at the records for the FA Cup from 1959 to 1962-63 season Bedlington Mechanics featured in the Qualifying Rounds. 

Other men who we can remember that were on the Committee of Bedlington Mechanics FC throughout this period in question were Bill Ward (who went on to manage the club) and Mr. Pearson (the cricketer Ken Pearson’s dad). 

Bedlington lads who all played at some stage that we can remember were Billy Pearcey, Harry Routledge, Ronnie Philipson, Fenwick McLean and maybe some of the lads from just after this period like Michael Metcalfe, Ronnie Day or Michael Third may also be able to help.

So, this is an appeal to anyone else that can remember the local football of the mid 1950’s to early 1960’s. Please help us if you have any recollections, stories or tales of those years. You may have to ask your own Dad’s and Grandad’s to see what they can recall. Any photos will also be very welcome.

SHEEP'S HEAD PIE

ingredients:

1 Sheep's head and trotters 1/2lb puff pastry

6oz. cooked bacon pepper, salt and a little powdered mace

2 eggs hard boiled

method:

Scrape, and clean well, the head and trotters. Simmer for two hours slowly. While still warm, remove the bone and cut the meat into small pieces.

Slice the hard boiled eggs and cut up bacon. Place alternately a layer of meat in the bottom of a pie dish, sprinkled with pepper, salt and mace, and a layer of bacon and eggs and repeat this until dish is filled. A cupful of the stock the head was cooked in can be added before covering with puff pastry.

Bake for thirty minutes.

Serve cold with green salad

Since then, i`ve always laid the console flat, on a raised surface and had no problems.

So, has anyone experienced trouble with standing the console up on it`s side? And if so, why do all the adverts still have the console standing on its side?

I  doubt we have seen the last of Edd, I wish him the best of luck.

@Ovalteeny has identified it as the Dr Pit Colliery Welfare FC that played in the Miners Welfare League throughout the 1940's & 50's.

As for the idea that Newcastle fans have ideas above their station or any kind of sense of entitlement, that's a real head scratcher. The obvious conclusion is that the people who say this sort of thing have never, ever been to Newcastle or spoken to anyone from the city. If they have been to Newcastle, perhaps they had a bad time on a stag night. Perhaps they were one of the southerners who jumps off the train, shouts, "Why Aye, Spuggy!” at every redhead and then gets headbutted on the Bigg Market before midnight. It's as good an explanation as any.

Today he followed up with :-  It was announced this evening with over 1,000 voting, more than 3-1 for it to be rebranded as Gallagher Park Live. Northumberland will have to fit in somewhere to get it onto social media. The chair informed those present Northumberland county Council were no longer involved and 1 of the 4 tendering for the event held the name so we were unable to continue for 2 legitimate reasons. In addition -an exclusive- put the date in your diary Saturday 27th July 2019. It’s on!
