Threegee,

Now the penny drops!

Until I read your quote, I didn't realise that this pair were supposed to be Andy Capp and Flo!

I never thought of these two characters as mid thirties, more likely 50's or 60's, and grungy to the extreme!

Annyway I like them, and anything that will improve Newbiggin is to be applauded.

Joe

Andy Capp and Flo? They don`t look anything like them

It all depends on who you believe whether John Braine wrote Room At The Top whilst working at Newbiggin Library. I mean wouldn't you have been "angry" having to work there in 1955? :D :D

But, I've always believed that Newbiggin must be the ideal setting - not to mention spiritual home - of Andy & Flo. I think that if Reg Smythe had hinted it was set there, both he and the town would have benefited greatly - it's a total natural!

Best thing they can do is to redress this omission and title it "Andy & Flo - the early years".

Second best thing is to follow Malcom's line - "is she or isn't she?". This has worked very well for The Mona Lisa!
