John Fox (foxy) Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 I've just read in todays Journal that Tesco have applied for permission to convert a pub in Seaton Deleval into a Supermarket. The locals say the pub is well used by the local community for social pleasure as well as providing carry out meals, and don't want the plans to go ahead. Tesco say this is not the case and want the pub closed. I would urge the people of the town to lobby their local councillors to contact Northumberland Conty Council and ask them to ensure they do not make the same mistake twice by allowing Tesco to buy up property and then doing nothing with it and letting it slide into a derilect eyesore while they wait for an upturn in the market. This can be clearly viewed if you take a look at the properties either side of their shop in Bedlington Market Place . What the townsfolk need to do is come to Bedlington and take a look at the results of Tesco's broken promises.
Brett Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 Apparently it's going to be a Tesco Express and built where The Victoria & Albert is going to be.http://www.newspostleader.co.uk/news/local/pub_regulars_petition_to_stop_creation_of_supermarket_1_4135495
Brett Posted February 19, 2013 Report Posted February 19, 2013 Looks like the South East Northumberland Planning Committee have rejected the two plans which Tesco had in place for the Victoria & Albert pub in Seaton Delaval
