paul mann Posted July 2, 2015 Report Posted July 2, 2015 Or flowers. Can anybody mind them ahd grave decorations that were stone floowas under a glass dome? I can mind them in 'the semmy', one of the ahd parts of the cemetery at West Lea. Are they collector's items now?
Tonyp Posted July 10, 2015 Report Posted July 10, 2015 I do remember them vaguely think they were mostly on kids graves,I visited Sterling a few months ago there's a cemetery near the castle which has the flowers under the glass domes I mentioned this to my missus that there used to be they same sort of thing inThe cemi at bedders. Very strange Paul.
Maggie/915 Posted July 10, 2015 Report Posted July 10, 2015 I have vague recollections Paul, of the flowers.Maybe I should have done more conker collecting in childhood. The stone flowers would be now replaced by plastic flowers and photos.Interesting how cemeteries have evolved in other countries.America is interesting but very OTT.Tombs and almost mini houses in French cemeteries.Maybe still the odd stone flower display.A friend went to Jamaica for a family funeral and it was normal to take pictures of the dead person before burial. Our attitude to death shows us a great deal about the living.Over the last few days our Grandchildren have been discussing death.I think it is often a taboo subject.
