Ovalteeny Posted February 7, 2016 Report Posted February 7, 2016 I believe this photo to be from The Market Place Club (or perhaps The Top Club), probably late 1940's/early 1950's. It captures the boys making their own entertainment with a sing-a-long. That's my Dad (Stan Kidd) on the right of the quartet, giving his all. Did the pubs & clubs shout last orders at 10pm in those days? You can also see my Grandad Kidd (known to one and all as Sep) in the bottom left corner of the photo. Can anyone else put a name to any of the others in the photo?
Reedy Posted February 9, 2016 Report Posted February 9, 2016 My Dad reckons it's most probably the Market Place Club as the man standing on the right of the picture with his hands folded in front of him was called either Walter or Bill Allison who was the club's chairman. The chap seated behind him is possibly Andy Fairbairn and he's fairly sure that the remaining members of the quartet are (left to right), Bobby James, Newton Tyler and Tommy Brown. Mind you he thought your Dad was Bill Anderson. Sep Kidd was my Dad's boss when he started in the pits and Newton Tyler drove the taxi which took my Mam and Dad to their wedding. 1
Ovalteeny Posted February 10, 2016 Author Report Posted February 10, 2016 Thanks Reedy, I thought your Dad would be able to assist.
