Cheers lads It'll be great to talk about the "old" days in Bedlington,a great place with no steel shutters or boarded up windows on the front street and best of all some lovely people and characters,It's amazing how a place can get into your bones and sole, anyway hope to chat to you all soon, wocheer
  3. Just spotted the street view car heading up Front Street West. Market day perhaps isn't the best view right now however Looks like we're down to the last few stalls.

just found this site wanted to say Hi,I was born in Bedlington Hartlansds,1959 and left 1983,if you were around then and are in or around my age I'll know you, specially if you're a bottom ender, btw Millbank,if you know the Chivers family we might know each other as I was good mates with Les or Chips as he was known, new Brian but he was older than me.
  5. OK, so the inevitable took a tad longer - as it often does. Just hope no one here got lumbered with one in a fire sale "promo"; I was tempted at one time.
  6. Totally brilliant! Dave has been asking for this for a long time.
  7. An interesting article that explains why we should listen to the many "out-of-step" economists who don't engage in their fatal group-think habit, and almost invariably are proven right! In simple terms: precedent strongly indicates that the more economists Desperate Dave can cajole into signing his scaremongering the more likely it is they are wrong, and that the courageous dissenters are right! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/05/18/economists-have-a-century-of-failure-behind-them-no-wonder-they/
  8. I was surprised they were allowed to pull those shops down . No shutters allowed but its ok to pull the building down
  9. I think you are both right. I seem to remember NVR was originally in the shop further up, but I think they possibly did move into the old Rediffusion shop after Granada left.
  10. N.V.R was further along on the site of the Co-operative funeral directors, NVR and the Home bakers shop were pulled down and the funeral directors is a new build.
  11. In the mid 1980's the Rediffusion Group was broken up and sold off. The TV rental business was acquired by Granada however there is a suggestion by TonyG that the Rediffusion shop may have became NVR owned by the son of Jimmy Millne. Rediffusion would appear to have internal shutters.
