  1. I have a Scottish mother and may have to read up on government guidelines for 'dual nationality'
  2. The Scots have never liked the English ruling over them so the visit by the heads of the three English/British political parties may backfire. What happens to the Union Jack?
  3. As Eggy suggests I believe it relates to Bedlington High School previously the Bedlington Grammer School where Sir Bobby Charlton was a former pupil.
  4. Great photo. There is a postcard of the same picture currently on ebay listed with a £17.50 starting bid.
  5. Hi Joanne, I do not know Anthea although I think she may have married and now lives in the Blyth area with her family. I do not think it would be appropriate to post details on the forum however if you could send me a message I may be able to assist.
  6. If it is the disabled one it may be worth putting something out on social media as it may gather some momentum on Twitter or Facebook.
  7. Hi Tonyp, Francis and Jane Heron were in Salmon Place in 1911 with their children Mary 8yrs, Francis 6yrs, Margaret 4yrs and Samuel 2yrs. Jane is shown as 34 yrs from Bellingham. It appears that Francis Ward Heron married Jane Charlton in 1901 in Bellingham.
  8. In the 1911 census there is a family by the name of Angus living in 5 Rosella Place and a family named Hedley are recorded as visitors.
  9. 'Glimpses of Old Bedlingtonshire' is one of Evan Martin's books that mentions the Fish family who lived in The Neuk in Salmon Place. Apparently their neighbours were the Haddock family.
  10. England out, Italy out, Suarez out?
  11. Hi Eggy, There is nothing on the card that assists to identify each of the locations. There is a clue to the date not being 1644 on the back of the card as one was posted 16th August 1924. The images of the Market Cross, Trotters monument and the church will be familiar to most but the woodland and river scene may not be as easy to work out.
  12. My vote would be for the Market Cross however the below postcards give an idea of what views represented Bedlington in the 1920's.
  13. There has been a suggestion that the 'Bedlington Terriers' in the photograph may be the 7th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers ( Territorial Force ). Apparently the cap badges appear consistent with the Northumberland Fusiliers and the shoulder titles look consistent with the Territorial Force.
  14. Below is a postcard relating to the raid that was sent from Bedlington to Prestonpans in 1915. I believe like the Blyth link that it is a hoax.
  15. Hi Maggie, The two pictures are postcards that are unused so I do not know when they date from. Below is a postcard from 1915 that appears to show a Zeppelin Raid at Bedlington. Apparently it is a hoax.
  16. Perhaps you know the 'Bedlington Terriers' or the Bedlington Salvation Army Band Member
