I have no idea if any of you know my mam and dad, but they are coming back over to Bedlington in October for a week's visit. Dad used to be a regular at the Bull with Stu Dawson, Beef and Mickey Luke. Just wanted to let anyone interested know that. They have been gone for over 11 yrs so I know a lot has changed.

So sorry to hear about your brother, Joe.

They should be thrown out of town, bunch of damn crooks. He walks around looking like his !*!@# doesn't stink, thinking that he is better then everyone else and he is nothing better than a common criminal. I have not lived there for nearly 10 years and he still makes my blood boil.

Happy Christmas Everybody. It is going to be 80 degrees here today, kind of weird listening to Christmas songs and wearing a tee shirt with the A/C on. Oh well musn't complain.

I love Christmas, we don't have a lot of money this year so are having big family meals and just spending time together. It is a lot less stressful then trying to get someone something that they didn't want in the first place, and then comparing what you got them to what they got you.

Okay, I swear when I lived there I read that she lost her leg in Sunderland when she was run over by a double decker bus that went onto the curb, but she is telling everyone over here that she was run over by a police man on his way to Princess Diana's house.

Born and bred in Bedlington, went to the Oval, WestSleekburn and then Bedlington High, raised practically in the Black Bull Pub. Moved to the USA about 10 years ago and am coming home to visit next year.

Hope the Bull is still standing.

I actually dont give it much thought, until one or other of my rusty parts remind me!

Now that there is snow on the mountains, and the rabbits are turning white, I have to take steps to deal with the Angina pains. So I wear patches containing Nitrates and walk a little slower, (if that is at all possible!) But the cold days make my heart beat a little faster, and then I remember, "Oh yeah, I am supposed to slow down", to what? I barely move as it is, and all these little kids whizzing past me dont help!

But I am so thankful that we live in Canada, and have the benefit of a good, though not great, health system.

My wifes family still live in the US, and now that most are retired they live in terror of a major health problem. In weekly calls they have another horror story of one or another of my wifes friends who are facing bankruptcy for a family member who is hit with an enormously expensive medical bill.

The US government loves to criticise Canada's "Socialist" health care system, and although there is much to legitimately criticise, at least we dont stand smugly by as thousands of people lose all for health care.

But our own system faces real problems as many doctors simply pack up and move to the states for the vastly superior earnings that can be made there! Which I suppose, is balanced by the unreal awards for medical malpractice.

In which case the lawyers are the only people who benefit in the end.

I am truly sorry to hear of your mother's illness. She came to the US for a better life, and this is part of the american

experience. Give her my best wishes, and tell that every morning she wakes up is another day to enjoy.

Thank you so much Joe, You know when my mom was really sick an aunt of mine sent her a card, and she had written inside " When you feel like you have gotten to the end of your rope, tie a knot in the end and hang on" That has become my new motto to live by.

I am very sorry to read about your illness. It really seems like you work your butt off to get to a point where you can enjoy life and then something happens. My mom was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in April of this year and moved from Bedlington to the US about 11 years ago. Now she is facing a medical bill of over $100,000.00 and they still can't tell her if it is in remission or not.

You honestly just have to take it one day at a time and really appreciate all that you have around you. Good luck

Well living in South East USA I would love to see some snow. It is great because the slightest bit freaks everyone out and they close down the businesses and schools etc. As long as I don't have to be on the highway with the idiots who can not drive in it I am ok.

Yeah, it is 8 years this April since I left Bedlington and I really miss it, but I wonder if it's the memories I miss and if I ever came back would it be the same. Getting ready on a Friday night to go up the street and then going to the Domino or Lucy's. Pretty much knowing everyone you see.

It sounds like alot is changing up the front street but I still have some great memories growing up in Bedlington, would love to see some different pictures also
