Would that have been Gerry Dixon who joined the Merchant Navy, along with Robin Hills, in the mid to late 1960's?

We always referred to Mary Miller as 'Little Mary' and I though she lived in Waverley Avenue - about No 20/21 across the road from Bolam Place.

Yes jerry dixon is my uncle and lenny (billy) was my dad he died 2 years ago..my grandmother was ellen and grandad was also lenny..and yes mary lived across the field.

@Tonyp - I tell fibs (= I didn't read all your comment ) - I do a little on the Maguire's. Alan, the eldest and according to his Facebook page he lives in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne but I don't know where about.

Alan was my mate in the 1960's, along with a large group of us that spent many evenings in the Percy Arms, Station Road. I know Alan has commented on the Bygone Bedlington Facebook group this year. Last year he updated the names of this photo - Percy Arms dart team, 1973.

I don't know the exact year but I know after I had moved away from Bedlington, Alan's brother Mick was killed in a road accident outside the Percy Arms. I think it was the early 1970's.

I don't know about the rest of the Maguire family.

Hello Katherine, just been catching up on this site and noticed your topic. You said your grandparents were McGuire family. As Alan would say, memories again. We both knew Michael, I spent some occasions with Michael in sixties and happy to say he was instrumental in me meeting my wife in 65. We were married in 68. He was a good lad Michael and never forgotten him to this day. Hope you get some answers to your subject. P.S. I lived in Beatty Road until I went into army. Good community spirit back then. Regards
