I'm Mike and I live in the Midlands. I was born in Newcastle upon Tyne and lived in Ponteland until 20 years ago when I moved south for work. I am tracing my family history on my late mothers side. Her maiden name was Dodds and her ancestors came from Bedlington. They worked at Netherton Colliery which then closed and they went to Cramlington but returned later to Bedlington. One branch of the family stayed in Bedlington, the other moved to Newcastle. One of the Dodds family went on to become the company secretary of Bedlington Coal at their Newcastle HQ before it was nationalised. I am looking for members with any knowledge of Dodds families and Netherton Colliery, circa 1800-1850.
