no no no, Frank Zappa has a great band & great music :P<_<B)

I have to agree somewhat with mrs vic that Frank Zappa is not for everyone, little rude with the words in his songs but as a kid we listerned to it all the time and went to see them in concert, our seats were so far back and so high up we could touch the roof of the arena. Frank Zappa and his band looked like little ants on stage.

Just wondering what concerts you lot went too, here are a few of the bands I seen:

Rolling Stones

Journey

Kansas

Eddie Money, all them at same concert early 70's in Buffalo USA

The Who

Rush

Max Webster

Saga

Goddo

Van Hallen

April Wine

Ooh! Great topic Tony C!

Mind, even though most of them were in the last 15years... I have long forgotten most of the gigs of my youth... but like the 60's if you remember them you probably weren't there :o

Good call TonyC.

Back in the day used to go to the Mayfair most Fridays to see the "B" list bands and City Hall for the "A" listers. After calling into the Pineapple, Man in the Moon and the George for refreshments I can't list too many bands, hic. Who says alcohol effects brain cells?

I do know its a long walk back when you miss the mail train!

A few more bands I saw during the years:

Triumph

E L O

Black Sabath

Kiss

Slade,,,, at Newbiggin Beach, anyone go to that one.

Nirvana - The Mayfair Newcastle

Hmmm... more people claim to have been there than the capacity of the place...

A much more impressive list would go as follows:

Sleeper - Newcastle University

The Fall - Some grotty folk club in Leeds

The Boo Radleys - Also Newcastle University

Blur - Mayfair, Arena and some festivals

Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine - maybe Trillians...

Tenpole Tudor - Trillians again... eek

The Super Furry Animals - A number of times, usually Newcastle University

The Kaiser Chiefs - a load of places in Leeds before they became the Kaiser Chiefs

Belle and Sebastian - Numerous venues

Future of the Left - downstairs at the Head of Steam... still have tinitus

Steve Harley (minus Cockney Rebel) - Possibly the same venue as the fall

Stephen Malkmus - Manchester somewhere

Jonathan Richman - in a cathderal

The Apples in Stereo - Possibly the best gig ever, somewhere in town (where one apple was dressed as Evil Kineval)

Shed Seven - the Riverside, punched Rick Witter

The Shins - Same place in Manchester as Malkmus, but a different night

Morrissey (and every Smiths tribute band going) - All over the country

Numerous Brit and Swedish Pop bands, whose name I have since forgotten, in venues that no longer exist

Sadly, the list never included Menswear... suppose I could just tell everyone I saw them at the Mayfair though?

I`ve seen Chubby Brown :D:lol:

So have I, and was there the night he walked off stage at the City Hall, never watched him again after that. He can give it but he can't take it.

When i was there, security removed a couple of people from the audience for shouting `Fat B******` at him..considering that seems to be his favourite words you wouldn`t think it would upset him!

That`s the last time i went to seem him

That would have been the lovely Shonen Knife. I saw them at The Riverside, b. in the d.

My first gig? Loony leftie singer songwriter Billy Bragg at the City Hall in 1988.

Other concerts of note:

Ramones at the Mayfair in 1989 and Manchester Academy in 1993

Suede at the Mayfair in 1993

Pulp at the University in 1995

Oasis at Loch Lomond in 1996. People still pay fifty quid to see them when they haven't been any good since the mid 90s? Unbelievable, Jeff!

Madness at Finsbury Park in 1998

Fatboy Slim at the University in 1998 and 2004

Prince Buster at the Poly in 2006

Belle and Sebastian at the Academy in 2006

The Go! Team at the University in 2007

Jens Lekman at the Cluny in 2008

In summary, gigs.

I forgot the big Northumberland ones.

Primal Scream, Cud and The Pastels at Blyth Sports Centre in about 1989.

The real jewel in the crown, though, was seeing JX at The Palace in Bedlington Station. A legendary night.

I saw Roger Whiticker at a shopping centre in Calgary, Alberta in the 80's and by chance got to talk to him about his song Durham Town, he said he wrote it while going to Durham University and said he loved his time in the north of England and loved the people of the north.
