The Market Place - Is It Really Open?

Featured Replies

Hello All,

On driving up through Bedlington Town Centre following the 'opening of the market place' and the Christmas Lights switch on (Well Done Tommy!), I noticed that many of the barriers are still in place, the most notable being on the Main Street.

Why are these still there? - I can understand them being around the Christmas tree, and to protect the new

grass, but why are they still in other parts of the Market Place?

Surely, if the development is 'officially open', then it should be finished?

It does look good, but why has it taken so long?

It has only taken 16 months to virtually rebuild the Sanderson Arcade in Morpeth, and the Market Place seems to have taken most of 2009!

Perhaps for future projects, the project managers and contractors who worked on the Arcade should be employed - they seem to get things done...

Best regards

Hi 250merc welcometo the forums. The delay was because the supplier couldn't get the stone out of the quarry quick enough and the barriers are still there because there are still a load of events happening over the Christmas period.

Hi, Not sure why there should be barriers everywhere if there are events on there. Should the barriers not be down if events are on?

probably to give the grass time to establish itself, otherwise the local charvs would have it ripped up! :D
