18 Gigapixels Anybody?

Featured Replies

Nice, imagine if Bedlington had one of these 18 Gigapixel things

Surprisingly it doesn't actually take that much work and equipment to do it.

Bet it takes a lot of money thought

not really, you can use regular consumer cameras. The only bit of additional equipment to a standard camera is a motorised head that can move in increments. About £200-400 for a retail product or ask 3g and he'll probably knock something up from bits lying around :)

If my dish rotator goes missing I now know where to look. smile.gif

I used a four year-old windows PC with two single-core 3ghz xeon processors and 8GB of RAM. After a week of frustration, I also bought an SSD, which helped to speed up some tasks a bit. If I will make this image again, I will buy a new computer.

Guess we won't be doing this on this four year old netbook then!

It would fold before it got started. laugh.gif
