Maggie/915 Posted January 24, 2013 Report Posted January 24, 2013 I would like to pay tribute to a local lady who made a difference in so many ways. She lived in Bedlington and was involved in local history groups and the Northumberland County Council. The record office at Meldon Park even named the local history search room after her.
Maggie/915 Posted January 30, 2013 Author Report Posted January 30, 2013 Sadly we are all to soon forgotten.A memory of hers was being left by her mother in 1913. Her mother was attending the funeral of Emily Wilding Davison. Another topic I feel!
Vic Patterson Posted January 30, 2013 Report Posted January 30, 2013 I'm fascinated reading this and the Emily Wilding Davison posting but I am confused at the connection to Bedlington. I presume Emily was part of the suffragette movement! What happened to (historian) Ellen Mitchell's mom? did she abandon Ellen or was their an unfortunate incident? Now to Google and try find out!
Maggie/915 Posted January 31, 2013 Author Report Posted January 31, 2013 Ellen Mitchell told the tale at the Bedlington History Society. She was president. She was left with a neighbour, while her mother went to Morpeth. The funeral was a big event in London and then in Morpeth.
