Maggie/915 Posted November 22, 2013 Report Posted November 22, 2013 Ok so some of us were at the Empress Ballroom.Others were not born and some were in their prams. It was the Welwyn trip and my recollection is hearing the news as we got off the bus.50 years is a lifetime.
Symptoms Posted November 22, 2013 Report Posted November 22, 2013 Some of us were in the Palace Cinema (Bedlington Station) watching It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World. The projectionist superimposed a slide over the film which simply said, " President Kennedy has been shot dead in Dallas, Texas." I still have an absolutely vivid memory of that moment. How apt it was to be watching a film with that title.
threegee Posted November 23, 2013 Report Posted November 23, 2013 Sorry to be a tad pedantic but it was Friday 22nd November. If you have a problem editing the title I can do it for you - just PM me. I was at Glendale or Avondale, Kity Brewster when someone opened the door to me quite stony-faced saying they'd just heard he'd been shot, but I think that a couple of people at East Hartford confirmed that it was fatal about half an hour later. Not sure precisely what I was thinking between the two; I've a feeling of being confused and upset going along past Horton Church.
