Your Dad was a kindly sort.

I can't believe he ever clipped anyone around the lugs. Not unless they needed a little help to behave.

Today they would be seen as having 'Attention Deficit Disorder' or in need of help for 'Hyperactivity'

He'd be smudged on some cheapo phone, the image posted to some trouble-making website, the boss cop would make some false statement about how the Peelers good work at reducing crime figures had been undermined by the action of one rogue bizzie, sacks him.

Definitely got clipped by polis (and then by parents after they were informed by polis) but don't remember his name. If your dad was the Bedlington Station polis Paul then I for one am extremely happy he clipped me and sent me home. A clip, a throbbing lug for a day or two, the embaresmaent (of getting caught) etc. etc. much better than a police record.
