Hello Everyone I have so much enjoyed the pictures of Barrington/Bedlington. My grandfather was Thomas William Dixon, who was married to Mary Elizabeth Dixon (nee Long). After living at Netherton Colliery at 237 Yard Row with his wife he later moved (for some reason) to Catholic Row, Bedlington. He had been a Private in the 10th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers and then a Coal Miner. He had 3 children, Andrew Dixon (my father) born 1919 and two others, Mary (who married Dennis Burns) and Harold (who married Verona McCafeti. My mother was Gladys Beldon of 12 Office Row, Barrington, born in 1921 and she married my father Andrew Dixon in 1939 when she was 18 and he was 21. Her father was hugh Beldon a Colliery Stoneman. Her sisters Betty, brothers Sid and Harry. They lost their mother when the mother, Ellen (nee Woollett) was only 39 (my mother must have been about 14) from Cancer. Many of the above are no longer with us. I am now 58 and a retired teacher living in Tynemouth, but I am often in the area of my birth. Actually as a boy, born in 1953, I lived at Cowgate Street Cambois for about 18 years. I have enjoyed many of the photographs of Bedlington,Netherton and Barrington on this site. Thank you. I have a photo of the 10th Fusiliers but do not know which soldier is my grandfather. Sadly all of my grandparents were dead before I was born, as I was the youngest of 3, my sister Sheila was the oldest and my brother Brian next, then last of all me, 9 years later!. If I am ringing any bells I would be pleased to hear from anyone, especially with information regarding my grandparents on either side or guidance on where to get more info. Obviously I know about Woodhorn records office but Haven't got up there at this stage. Hoping for some replies have a great day. Allan Keith Dixon.
