  2. According to the board statistics on Jan 9 2006, 12:52 AM there was 139 online users, as this was a Monday morning had we just come home from the pub or could we just not sleep or perhaps the Americans had discovered Bedlington, any ideas on this large number.
  3. The Railway commonly known as Creges (not sure about how it was spelt) in the fifties and sixties. Used to sell Vauxes beer, was always a popular pub had a discotheque there in the sixties, The lighting used the make your pint look like engine oil and your white shirt turned blue. The Percy used to be alright in them days, became very popular when there was some rather unusal ladies started working behind the bar.
  4. Thank you kind sir's for your interpretation, but whats a hermaphroditic. No problem I'v just looked it up in the dictioary, did'nt think that was possible ah well there some strang goings on these days.

  7. Ah yes I remember the horse muck and having to cart it to the bottom of the garden, also going with my grandad and collecting sheep muck from the fields for the leeks. Red ash from the pit heaps was another favourite for the garden although I don't know what good it did. Memories of days gone by.
  8. Times have certainly Joe, I remember following the pit tractor and trailer (it used to be a horse and cart at one time) when they where delivering the coal to peoples houses, we would knock on the door and ask if we could put the coal in for them. We used to get anything from a shilling to two bob. Ringtons tea was delivered by horse and cart as well even the ice cream man used come around at night with a horse and cart, I believe his name was Jacky Bell. Ah well that's another story.
  9. Never seen one of then Denzel but a did see a wooly mamath doon the hapney woods one day, mind you a had visited the Bank top before going there.
  10. Delrosa, I rememder picking rose hips and getting 4d a pound for them at the chemists, it's surprising how many you had to pick to make up a pound. It was somthing that most kids did in the fifties to earn a few pennies, ah it brings back some good memories.

  19. Pensioner's payback - for 83 years! A PENSIONER forced to refund an overpayment by Northumberland County Council will be paying back his debt until he is 157 years old. The 74-year-old, who has not been named, has been ordered to pay back the £25,000 he was overpaid in his pension at the rate of just £25 each month. But it will take 83 years to pay back the money and the pensioner will be 157 before his debt is cleared. The mistake was uncovered three years ago and the unique pay-back system was arranged after other attempts to recover the money failed. Councillors have now called for an investigation and Cramlington North councillor Wayne Daley said it is a ridiculous situation. “There is no evidence that this man has made a fraudulent claim or been involved in any wrongdoing whatsoever,” he said. “It seems to be a mistake by the council and although £25,000 it is a lot of money in my view the debt should just be cleared. As quoted in the News Post Leader. online. Surly common sense should be applied and the pensioner should have this debt written off, It can't be right that a pensioner should have to sit and worry about this or have money took off his pension for the rest of his life. Whats your oponion?
