hi sorry i have not been on the website for some time ...the families i knew were the owens tilburys the roughs (i think that is how it is spelt)but 56 years is a long time ...i have been in touch with some of them (joe jobson & john young)but i have no knowledge of the barkers ..marleys

i used to watch all of those when i lived at the station ,,the miners picnic was a very good day out with lots to do and it gave us the chance to sink a few lemonades ????- Eastgate Choppington
hi again i had forgotten all about the jam jars . i can remember we used to pass our tickets out the toilet window to our mates ... if i remember the projectionist was a man called woodhouse who also lived at easgate- Eastgate Choppington

the cinema you refer to was called the star ..it was run by an old dear known as ganny mavin .. we all used to go there on a saturday morning to the matinee .. the photo i remember very well i have a wider one that actually shows me on the right hand side sitting astride a wooden bench .. i was at choppington some two years or so ago but the star was pulled down thank .. you very much for the photos i was looking to find a photo if the cinema thanks to you i now have one- Eastgate Choppington

hi merlin thanks for getting in touch ..i can remember the archbolds .richardsons the wrights if i recall were called arthur or billy .. some of the names that spring to mind were the owens.. seddons ..tilbury .. lofthouse.. barker..bush..there are lots more i can tell as my brother is coming through from blyth today and i will get him to go through as many as we can think of i will be back in touch soon many thanks- Eastgate Choppington

HI THANKS FOR CONTACTING ME WHEN I LIVED AT 16 EASTGATE THE BULLRING WAS THE CIRCLE AT THE END OF THE ROAD WHERE THE CARS TURNED AROUND WHY WE CALLED IT THAT I WILL NEVER KNOW DO YOU LIVE IN THE AREA OR HAVE YOU LIKE ME MOVED AWAY ...I LEFT QUITE A FEW YEARS AGO WHEN I WAS FOURTEEN YEARS OLD I HAVE ONLY BEEN BACK ONCE AND THAT WAS ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO IT WAS QUITE A NOSTALGIC VISIT BUT WE DID NOT MEET ANY ONE WE KNEW .. thank you very much for the photos .. it has really changed in the last few years .when i came back for the first time since leaving i went down the street where i once lived and where i was born it was 16 eastgate it brought me back to reality ..i looked at the bullring( as we used to call it and it was a lot smaller than when i was young we ran around it about 4 or 5 times and we were tired ) the fence at the end on the bullring was at least 6 ft high (so we thought) i have contacted two of the people i went to school with one is joe jobson the other is john young but there are a lot more who we knew that i have yet to find once again thank you for your help i will get in touch with you again if you dont mind.... greenfingers- Eastgate Choppington
hello again when you mention the wrights i can remember the family that lived on the right as you went through the little roundabout the only name i can recall is a boy who was named gordon .. they lived straight across the road from a family called lofthouse they had a son called billy who was tragically killed shortly after joining the army == greenfingers - Eastgate Choppington
