Hello
Thanks for that Keith, what a shame we were so close and missed the street. I have a few Mary Fergusons in the tree as well but they are all from too far back to match the lady your mother knew. There are a lot of branches of the Ferguson family that I have not researched yet so I've no doubt that there must be a connection to her somewhere. Thanks again for the info, Nadine

Hello
Hi Everyone, Thanks for the warm welcome. We only have a few address details at the moment which is hampering our search somewhat. We are awaiting the delivery of some birth/marriage/death certificates that I hope will shed some more light. I do know that the family lived at 8 East View in the late 19th century but we are not sure if that was in Bedlington or Choppington (we could find neither address in either place) and there was also family in Trojan Street in Choppington. Our visit to the area was unscheduled as we stopped off on our back from a trip to Scotland, but once we have gathered all the info we can we are hoping to return later in the year to get a real feel for the place. I've had a look through your gallery and you have some fantastic photos of the area. Hope everyone has a great weekend, Nadine

Hello
Hi, My interest in the area is more historically based as my husband's family are from the Bedlington area. As we are researching his family tree we have come across this site and thought we would join to see what we could find out about the area and (if we are really lucky) his ancestors. My husband's grandmother was born in Bedlington but her father sadly passed away when she was young and her mother moved away from the area with the children. Mark's grandmother was Florence Ferguson and her father was David Rice Ferguson. Flo was born in 1924 and her father, David was born in 1877 and was baptised in Cambois. He died in 1930. We have recently visited the town but could not find any of the addresses we have on birth certificates and census reports for the family and we are assuming that the area they lived in has been redevloped (or we were looking in the wrong place!!). David and his brother Mark Ferguson were Grocers in the area and the family lived in and around Bedlington and many were miners. If any one has any information about the Fergusons (or indeed the Maddison's which is David's wife's maiden name)from the late 19th/early 20th century or indeed if there are any Fergusons still living in the area we would love to hear from you. Thanks for taking some time to read this, Nadine Searle
