Church on the left, then dentist's. Burdon House is behind the dentist's. It used to be a nursing home, built 1912, and my daughter lives there now. Why did they build it behind, or the dentist's in front? Very odd arrangement.
The big building behind the memorial stands where Grenfells now is and the big place behind or attached to it can't be there any more either. Any more info/pics on these gratefully received.

Keith,
PRAM.....PRAM.... we used to dream about getting a pram. Mam used to drag us along behind her wrapped up in an old blanket...
Blanket?! - You were lucky; Mam used to just drag us along by the hair!

I suppose "I told you so" is too obvious . . .

Also posted this on the P.A.W.S. FB page.

HIM: I'm a little stiff from Badminton.
HER: I don't care where you come from, can you dance?

What's wrong with teaching a child from an early age that human behaviour is always coupled to consequences - sometimes good and sometimes bad. Children are not born with a complete code of conduct stamped on their forehead. It's something they have to learn with the help of the adults in their lives. Getting through life is about making wise choices. Wise choice = good consequences. Bad choice = bad consequences. That needs to be learned as a child.
Unfortunately I think there's a lot of truth in what Brettly say's. For some parents it's a case of 'anything for a quiet life'.
Sadly, too many parents don't realise that this is the case. In their view, it's always someone else's responsibility.

They've got three kids for it - Let's see what happens next . . .

The Station - a great project for the bench-burners who have "nothing to do".
-
The "nothing to do" argument holds no water. Our kids had even less to do, but always managed to find something non-destructive without wandering the streets creating havoc. We'd often have to count the pairs of shoes at the foot of the stairs when they had friends in. How many of the parents of these lost souls take an active interest in their own kids? If they're so desperate, perhaps they could volunteer to run a Scout group, youth club or whatever. Fat chance!

"you must walk very fast"
Wish I could!
Not sure why it's so jerky - better on your actual YouTube.

What is the date for the Olympic Torch Carnival and how does it link in with The Big Event and Bedrock?
-
How does this link in with the Bedrock festival the next day?

Will these events be widely, clearly and thoroughly advertised? I'm thinking about the Heritage Weekend and the Sustrans Portrait Bench fiasco last year. Would hate to see another one go down the pan.

"Cyril, these events are all taking place on 3rd June, and there are lots of outdoor activities planned e.g. fun fair, rides, races etc so I think they need the extra space. The Town Council have commissioned BVAL to put on weekly sport/fitness activities at the Community Centre and a 5 day per week programme in the school holidays. When the details are available I'll post them here. The Salvation Army are also putting on a free event for the Olympic Opening Ceremony, again more details later."

Think I'll join you. There'll be rich pickings outside the Co-op and the betting shop. And I could leave the car in one of the empty car parks - nobody goes there!
-
Nothing useful will happen until decisive and consistent action is taken. Let's hope it's soon.

Putting yellow lines down will only encourage more parking. In Bedlington (especially the Station) double-yellows means Car Park!!

We could build a new P.A.W.S. clinic there. Anybody got spare cash?
-
Just to say P.A.W.S. loves Synergy. thanks to all involved in the creme egg appeal (ongoing), especially Colin, the whirling dervish. Genuine local radio can really bring the town together, given a chance.

That can't be Bedlington - the cars are too posh!

. . . and the Queen's favourite song?

It was posted by foxy on 13th March - and you commented on it! I just used the link for my query.
But you're right - it's a cracking photo. Looking forward to Foxy's exhibition . . .
