  1. Strictly they're the arms of BUDC, but since West Bedlington Parish Council can be considered their legitimate successors it would be very simple to have the grant translated to WBPC.

Really!!!............................................Bedlington Urban District Council....covered a lot more area than just the west end of bedlington ..............to use the BUDC coat of arms all three parish councils would have to agree.

  2. Does anyone have any information, regarding a "private" concrete road which runs off the Choppington Station to Bedlington road, just south of the Choppington station to Netherton. (I think the road is still there) I was told this was first a dirt track, but was later laid with concrete. The road was used by lorries, I think there was land fill tip near Netherton, but this maybe wrong.

the road was concrete and remained for years after the colliery was pulled down, part of the road it was still open in about1977/8 as my dad took me there the practice driving.

you could travel from the nedderton side right through to the choppington side for a while, then when the colliery was open casted for the howard seam the road was closed to the public.

  3. The law changed in 2008 - http://www.lgbce.org...ernance-reviews

A review can consider a number of issues, including:

    • whether to create a new parish
    • whether to alter the boundary of an existing parish
    • whether to group a number of parishes together in a grouped parish council

Local people can petition a principal council to undertake a community governance review. A principal council must undertake a review if the relevant conditions in relation to the petition are met.

And I believe we only had one crack at that and when the question was asked it wasn't even put to the public?

Also is it not the Boundary Commission who sets the boundaries? WDC suggested them at LGR.

If we did have one council...... immediate saving..........2/3rds of the current staffing and overheads for 3 offices or over £100K to invest into things people actually want instead of loading up on bureaucracy!

And most importantly the 3 parish councils now formed would have to want to reunite.........but everyones got there own powerbase and lets face it some parts of bedlington, others don't want to take on and some feel forgotton......no offence ment.

  4. No, grass cutting is still the responsibility of NCC but some town/parish councils do pay for up to 3 extra cuts per year above the NCC basic service. The area mentioned is in East Bedlington Parish, I don't know if they paid for extra cuts or if they decided not to?

I dont think the area mentioned has ever been cut since the bridge painters left and it was re seeded..........and there we go "its east bedlington"...... if bedlington was united as a council so much more would be acheived instead of well its not my area..... WE ARE ALL FROM BEDLINGTON!

  6. What we need is the old BUDC back!

With the Shire divided into 3 , West, East and North, we have 3 times the costs for a tenth of the service!

why cannot we have the three re-unite for a better bedlington...........

  7. the area in question has never been the same since the porta cabins left (bridge repair people).they just seeded it

they should have been made to put it back the way it was before they arrived

the verge used to be beautiful with daffodils in spring.

  8. It is great that Bedlington is actually part of the route for the torch carrying, however it would have been a better day if the route had travelled through the rest of bedlington (say down rothsay/victoria/ station road then on to bebside via the Banktop)as well - How come Ashington gets 2 goes at it?

    how were the routes planned?
