I hear it's not very good, but....

Not a rip off. Konami invented this genre of games with the Benami brand - Pop 'n' Music, Beatmania, Guitar Mania, Drum Mania. All had the format of falling blobs and hitting them to play the song.

So to be pedantic, Guitar Hero and Rock Band are the rip offs!!
