Cympil 132 Posted May 22, 2010 Report Share Cympil, lost my bearing on this one, where was this building in relation to any existing structure? This is Plessey Mill Farm, it can be seen from Plessey Woods. The actual address for it is Shotton Lane, Cramlington, so by rights, i should maybe make a Cramlington photo album!I`m not sure if it`s always been called Plessey Mill Farm though, as this photo was only titled `Plessey Mill`.Maybe someone can enlighten us further on this one. Alan Edgar (Eggy1948) 1,196 Posted August 17, 2016 Report Share This photo was posted on Facebook sixtownships site but with no info or the source of the photo. Had a quick Google search but only info on the farm returned and nothing to match the images of the buildings in the photo. The old ordnance survey maps show a Plessey Hall Farm and a Plessey Mill with the Plessey Mill as '(Dis)', that I would take as disused, on the map published in 1954. Proves nothing but filled in half an hour of me time. Link to comment
Newbedders 27 Posted August 17, 2016 Report Share I think the layout of the buildings in each of the first 3 maps is well depicted in the photo. Maybe the farm co existed with the mill or grew out of the buildings remaining when the mill ceased its original function. Link to comment
