IanBrown1981 2 Posted December 19, 2020 Report Share Thanks for this threegee. It’s Ian here, I’m in the photo to the left of you. I have absolutely no recollection of this moment. We relocated to New Hartley from Oman in the Middle East when I was five and a half, I couldn’t have been much older than that here and clearly still have my Middle Eastern tan. It looks very picturesque wherever we are. I’m wondering if this was taken at Granny and Gramps’ first house in Bedlington, as they had a beautiful garden there? If not, perhaps it is at your childhood home? I’m on the verge of turning 39 now. I’ve attached a more recent pic. Best Wishes, Ian Link to comment
Andy Millne 369 Posted December 19, 2020 Report Share Hi Ian. This was taken at The Old Vicarage next to St Cuthberts Church. I am the other person in the photo . Threegee is my father. If my memory is correct your grandparents lived at the top of Attlee bank but @threegee will know best. 2 Link to comment
Andy Millne 369 Posted December 19, 2020 Report Share Well according to mum, @threegee is wrong and this is actually my sister Christina. That’s awkward. Link to comment
ex Bedlingtonian 35 Posted December 19, 2020 Report Share Yes, that is Ian with Christina, and would be summer of 84. The other photo, with Dr. Brown, Andy, Ian and Christina, I am pretty sure would have been around Christmas 84. I wonder if you were on holiday at the time Ian. We certainly met you long before you were 5 1/2. Link to comment
IanBrown1981 2 Posted December 19, 2020 Report Share Dear All, Thanks so much for the updates. The photo with Christina is lovely, I’ve saved it along with some of the other images that have been posted on the website for my family albums. If this was taken in ‘84, then yes, absolutely we must have flown over from Oman to visit Granny and Gramps. I hadn’t physically taken up residence in Newcastle until around ‘86. I was at school at NPS in Jesmond until I was around 9 years old, at which point I was sent to the boarding school my Dad (Roger) and his brothers Michael and Gavin (both sadly deceased now) attended in Pitlochry in Scotland. It is lovely to be in touch after all these years, I’ll send this photo to my Dad and tell him about this correspondence. Best Wishes, Ian 1 Link to comment
ex Bedlingtonian 35 Posted December 19, 2020 Report Share Haha - Roger never was very good at keeping in touch. I keep saying to my husband "I wonder what Roger is doing now?" He keeps saying "don't worry, Roger will turn up out of the blue one day". It's been a good few years now though. So sorry to hear about Michael and Gavin. Link to comment
