  1. No Pete I think there is more to this than meets the eye, I get the feeling that there has been some 'Shenanigans' going on here, the feeling of gleaning information for personal gain, also of an abuse of inside information, like, it's not what you know, but WHO! Something just doesn't sit right here, and you know what, I'm going to make it my business to find out!

  2. Dear All I would like to thank everyone for the recent posts to the thread I began all those many months ago. I`m rather taken aback by the flurry of activety. I`m sorry if it appeared to some that time has gone by without anything seemingly happening with our project. But that could not be further from the truth. Myself Neal & Colin have been endlessly applying to funding streams to get Synergy off the ground. But it seems we have not been as lucky as some. You may remember our luck changed for the better, about a year ago, when we were kindly offered premises in Bedlington This spurred us on to keep going. For that we are so grateful. My original reason for posting tonight was to tell you that we would like to hold an open public meeting sometime in November to discuss our project. We would probably try to get the Salvation Army hall. Would you to come? Keep the comments coming please.

  6. I think if Synergy were part of a wider corporation I don't think funding would have been a problem. The thing that bugs me is, Synergy have been trying for a good while to set up, then when the winning post is sight, low and behold two others appear, but not just on the horizon, no, these other two seem to have jet propulsion in their schemes! Where did they get their ideas from? Why now, when Synergy were so close? Why did they not try to set up before? Did someone in the know think 'Cor blimey, that's a good idea' I'll have some of that? How did it take Synergy so long to get Cooncil attention, then this Toast waltzes in and gets every thing they want within a matter of weeks. Ideas, I think , have been snaffled. Something stinks to high heaven here. I would hate to think that someone in the cooncil employ, or ex employ, has had privy information on this matter, or priveleges extended. Because believe you me I WILL find out. BEWARE

  7. Hi Everyone Right, to put all the rumours at rest. My name is Philippa and I am the Assitant Area Manager for Sustrans and work on this project and so can pretty much tell you what is happening. RE the Blyth/Cambois route:- In the original plan, a ferry was proposed to take people and cyclists across from Blyth to Cambois and this is why the long distance cycle route from Newcastle to Edinburgh (NCN 1) was re-routed via Cambois. It is still perfectly possible to cycle the shorter section via West Sleekburn. The only way a cycle lane will be added to the Link Road between Bedlington Station and the turn-off to West Sleekburn if public pressure on the Council - over to you. On the new Connect2 Routes in Bedlington. Yes, sadly it is true that the link to Cramlington via a high level Bridge over the River Blyth has had to be removed from project. This is partly due to funding issues and partly due to landownership issues on the south side of the river. I can appreciate people's frustration at the loss of this link, as it would have made cycling for work, pleasure or exercise between Cramlington and Bedlington a lot easier, safer and more pleasurable. With luck, it is something that will happen in the future as a lot of the ground work in planning and mapping the route has already been completed. However, for the first time, Bedlington will get a good network of cycle and pedestiran routes around the town and linking to all the schools. The majority of these are off-road, including widening of pavements to make multi-user routes. I have attached the first newsletter for the project to this email which has a map of the routes and you can see for yourself that the majority of the network in Bedlington is remaining. My contact details are on this newsletter so if you would like to recieve this newsletter directly or would like further information about the project, please do get in touch directly In the meantime, thanks for your eyes Philippa Bedlington Oct 10.pdf

  8. Hi, just discovered this photograph which was taken about 1950. The train was a miners Picnic day special, which was travelling to Morpeth. The station, which is now all gone, was at the top of the bank.(opposite direction to the speed camera of course) The track is also now a single track. The building on the left was definately the ticket office, whilst I think the building on the right belong to the railway, maybe the station master. I suspect these buildings were there when the photo below was taken.
