Hi, My name is Diane and I moved to Bedlington in November 2008 to come and live with my boyfriend who has lived here since 2005 and is originally from Morpeth. I lived in Westerhope in Newcastle upon Tyne for my whole life before moving here and knew the history of Westerhope like the back of my hand. With this in mind, I commented that I was interested in learning about Bedlington and my boyfriend bought me 'Bedlingtonshire' by Evan Martin for Christmas! I was hoping to make some friends here, but as you can see by my username I am pretty shy and didn't really know how to get involved in the community. I support local business' and have gotten to know the girls in Zuenziga a little from going in and Eileen in Confetti from my love of cake making and decorating and chat to some of the ladies at the slimming world group at West End Primary. I went to Zumba for a bit but found it difficult to make friends with people, a lot of the ladies seemed to have established friendships from school etc. I've only just discovered this web site today! I can't believe I never thought to google bedlington before now! I am 34, I work in Jarrow, near South Shields as a high costs caseworker for the Legal Services Commission. I have no kids as yet. As well as all things baking, I am interested in geneology and interior design. I like to spend time outdoors and am particularly a coastal person, though I love a walk through Bedlington Country Park. It is definitely a slower pace of life here and I would hate to move back to the 'city'. I know from chatting to some of the older residents at the bus stop that they feel it has changed and not for the better and having experienced Westerhope Village turn into Westerhope town, complete with a mcdonalds and a business park, I can relate to what they are saying, but Bedlington is a far nicer place to live than a lot of areas in Newcastle.
