Bedlington Time Line By Six Townships Community History Group
Does anyone know if the secret base at Hartford is still there??? I was all over the woods down there as a Bairn but dont recall any underground structures. What I think was the mechanics institute behind the Sun Inn was a private clubhouse for our gang, lots of old billiard tables and an entrance only we knew of, In the cellar was a tunnel of some kind that seemed to go under the Sun Inn and the road, it was stone lined and I cant remember anyone going to where it ended, anyone else out there that may know???

Saint Cuthbert And Bedlington Church
Well with google street view I see that there are now 3 houses standing where the playing field was from the church down to Towers close, if you go between the 2 houses on Church road until you hit the tree line in the back yard that is where the gravestone was, there was a stone wall then a small field and then the vicarage, the ground was probably undisturbed when they built the houses since it was in the back

Saint Cuthbert And Bedlington Church
I can clearly remember when I was at the infants school next to the church we would have play time in the field past the graveyard on church road, about 3/4 of the way down the wall on the back of the field was a small stone marker close up to the wall and we were always told by the teachers that it was the vicars horse buried there, anyone else recall this?

Millnes Rubbish Pile Behind His Shop
The treasures that were to be found from the junk he tossed away seemed like the best toys we had, my 1st transistor radio came from here with mouldy batteries that worked once I cleaned the terminals up, we never had a radio at home so my appreciation of music was due to Mr. Millnes dump!! also how about the camps we built in the Dr. Pit timber yard til yi got chased by the watchee

How Fast Can You Gan Doon The Bank Top.
We took our custom enclosed 3 man bogey doon the Bedlington bank more than a few times, and went skidding into the field at the bottom to slow down, we needed spotters at top and bottom to give us a nod when the traffic was clear, it was a longer ride than the bank top and with the wood panels enclosing us we got knocked aboot but nee real bad scrapes, once we made the turn to go over the bridge on the river. we called it the Supabogie!!

Where Were You When....
My wife and I were driving on the seabridge from Moncton New Brunswick Canada to Prince Edward Island when the news came on, I turned the camcorder on in the car and still have the footage with the radio reports as it happened, the stretch of water under this huge bridge is called the Northumberland strait. The people of Canada could not have been nicer, we were camping down through Nova Scotia and back down through Maine to Pennsylvania but the borders were closed for 2 weeks so we made the most of it but we never played a tune on the radio after that,we only listened to the news, a lot of the camping parks in Canada kept the lights on all night which made it hard to sleep in a tent but I guess gave the campers a better feeling of security. Strange days they were......

Whitley Memorial
HPW, the life story is a great idea but have someone in mind to take it when you go, My Dad had a pile of papers he had written of his whole life after he moved to Newbiggin from Bedlington, it was to be a book called the Perils of Private Potts, the pile was over 4 feet high with photos and newspaper clippings and he added to it almost every day until he passed, My sister in law came in to clean the house for my Mam after the funeral and she chucked out the whole collection he had made, when I found out my heart almost fell out of my chest, the woman had never paid attention to my parents ever before this, so Mark my words and put your writings in safe keeping Wilma
