  1. hi my name is jim lofthouse i was born and lived in netherton colliery then westlea i am looking for ivan mcbride i am told he is in a home but i dont know which one can anyone help me find him contact me at jimlofthouse@msn.com thank you
  2. If i remember right the francis pit was to the right of the new concrete road that went to barrington crossing on the bedlington to choppington road
  3. This is only a picture of what was called the new houses the original rows were yard row,howard row and clifton row all up towards howard pit the new houses went from the institute to the old francis pit near the, conctete road to choppington
  4. I can remember the concrete road being laid bybedlington council in approx 1947/493
  5. The houses on howard row and clifton row were knocked down when people left to new houses in west lea and ridge farm estate behind netherton club the new one cheers jim lofthouse

  9. The first photo is raymond bradley and i used to go to the tute for roller skating and i lived two doors from ivy short at west lea and lived in howard row at the colliery
  10. how do other members feel about rebuilding netherton colliery village,now that the coal as been removed i think it should be rebuilt on a similar layout as before as a lot of peoples roots were lost when it was demolished i know i dont live in the area now but i feel so much is being lost from the area and the history isnt being passed down.
  11. hello bill my name is jim lofthouse i was born in netherton colliery and later moved to west lea i left the area in 1958 and now live in lincoln i still have relatives in guide post and bedlington and a good friend whos name is Ivan McBride maybe you have heard of him.
  12. hello i would like to hear from nethertonians 1945 to 1958 anyone got any photos of netherton colliery and village 1939 till it ceased to exist although i left threr a long time ago i still consider it to be my home and would like to share yur thoughts
