  1. Malcolm, I know this is a totaly different subject, http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6095680.stm But is this the end of travel as we know it and who sufferes with this one, yet again the man in the street. Levies on energy-wasting appliances, does this mean that the less fortunate get stung again, sorry just having gripe.
  2. "But there's good news the Goverment anounced yesterday thet their giving more power to local councils and you will be able to hold your councilors to account, they even mentioned more Mayor" Accountability in local gov, now there's a novel idea! Bedlington could have had it's own Mayor many years ago, all that was needed was for a Town council and a very small percentage of the local people could have willed it. That is notwithstanding the little fact that two Authorites in the country effectivley banned Parish/Town councils. One was North Tyneside the other.......begings with W, ends in K! Mobilize the troops and get it changed.

Thanks Swalnalla, was the scrapyard on the right of the road going out of the station near the garage or am I getting confused? To the right of the school and to the right of the tip there used to be a large area that was full of small pools of water, these pools used to be full of newts, toads and frogs. When we where kids we used to catch the newts and keep them in an old tin bath tub in the garden, of course I am going back nearly 50 years and this would not be allowed today as I believe newts are a protected specices. There where loads of small hills there as well great for riding your bike around, pity the BMX hadent been invented. Perhaps one day Back to the Future might be a reallity.

As I recall Red Row only had one street probably no more than 4 to 5 houses. If you look at Red Row from the main road just to the left used to be a rubish tip full of all kinds of nasty things including dead dogs and rats. Probably all leveled and covered over now, is that where there building these houses? As for people buying houses just to sleep in them, I heard the same thing happend in Wooler.
