  1. I have been following through my family history and have traced back to Bedlington in the mid 18th Century. Edward Henderson, born in Rothbury in 1745 and he and his wife Francis Kirsop, had their third child, Mary, baptised in Bedlington on 2nd January 1780. They had 9 children altogether. He died in Bedlington on 31st May 1818. One son, Thomas Henderson, baptised 4th June 1781 in Bedlington, became the proprietor of the Dunn Cow. He married Isabella Kirkup on 6th May 1804. They had six children. The last (as Isabella died in childbirth) was John born on 8th March 1818. He was a wheelwright (engineer). John married Eve Harvey in Newcastle on 3rd July 1838. They had a eight children, the seventh being John Harvey Henderson (my great grandfather) who was born in Bedlington on 8th May 1853. Soon afterwards the family moved to Benwell. I managed to visit Bedlington briefly last year (I live in Spain). The Dun(n) Cow of over 200 years ago is not the public house of today of course, perhaps the current building is built on the same site? A quick trip to the Library proved that John worked at The Bedlington Iron Works in 1840 as a millwright. He was 23 and lived in the High Street. If anybody knows a contact telephone number or email address for Evan Martin, who has written a lot about the town, I would be grateful There is a lot more stuff on my web site www.hbhb-family.com/. This need completely re-writing now as it is dis-jointed and I am doing this at the moment. If anybody can help with more information on my family or the town in that period please let me know Many thanks Tony Henderson
