  1. It was democracy that kept her there for so long. She won 3 general elections, unlike the present lot.
  2. Well he is conspicuous by his silence is he not.
  3. Totally agree, but despite everything, there has to be some element of respect.
  4. I have no problem with people debating her policies, it is Symptoms attitude I found offensive. It is now over 20 years since she left politics, and I can't see her successors in either party having done any better.
  5. You think you are being funny.
  6. Sorry, I find this deeply offensive. Whatever you thought of her, now is not the time.
  7. Just coming out of a pub lunch driving home from Bristol. Heard it on the radio and though "some air traffic controller is in trouble", then I heard about the second one.
  8. I very vaguely remember a week many years ago, where various events were held, with some interesting things going on for kids in the library. Could this be anything to do with it?
  9. Would be nice wouldn't it.
  10. I'm not in the UK any more, and they don't do it here. Here there are the guys who take your trolley to the car, load your shopping into the car and return the trolley to the trolley bay. I do give them any odd change I have in my purse.
  11. I used to say "here's a donation, but I'd rather pack my own bags thank you". They get their donation and I get my bags packed the way I like them.
  12. I am pretty sure there was a house called "Demesne House" near the community centre.
  13. Could have been there myself. I went to many, many concerts at the City Hall in the 60's, and The Hollies and Roy Orbison are two acts I would have wanted to see.
  14. How about some pics for us exiles?
  15. Happy Birthday from all of us too.
  16. It would be nice to think that all those who listened and enjoyed what they heard put their hands in their pockets to raise at least a little bit of it.
  17. Never knew it was called Spring Park, thank you.
  18. Apparently the Olympic Torch is going to be carried down Front Street to Spring Park. I didn't think it was that long since I left Bedlington, but I don't remember any Spring Park. Where is it? You can find the route at http://news.bbc.co.u...k_newcastle.pdf
  19. You could ask Mary at the Northumberland Arms. She has an upstairs room which has been used in the past by various clubs.
  20. It used to many years ago, but I don't think it has now.
  21. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-16332481 Always knew Bedlington was classed as a suburb of Ashington!
  22. Can't give you any first hand experience but I have been connected with Bedlington for over 35 years and it has always had a good reputation.
