LOL I spotted the title and was just about to post a couple of recommendations for a good cheap "forst" one! Far too long ago. Woodbines or was it Players? Down the woods - of course! Never became a real smoker. Have a pretty clear mental picture of cigarette packs in Bachii's window though; must be from the mid 1950's. Ah, no, I remember menthol things with a (green?) band on the packet. The name escapes me. Yay!! I remembered the slogan and goggled on it! Way way before decimalisation though. Would buy those at one of the general dealers I'd imagine. Under-age needless to say.

Damn, I've just realised! That's what Tory/Labour dirty tricks are now up to! They are plotting to fit-up a member with the Suzy Lamplugh disappearance!
-
I don't think we'd be able to get way with that without changing our name to the-united-union-of-bedlington.co.uk

I find Hamilton a bit greasy, and you'll probably find lots of other Kippers who do to. But if there's the slightest provable allegation he'll be out on his ear. I think he knows this too. But, he's not Ukip, and he's not in office, and AFAIK he's not even a candidate. Would the LP expel someone without a provable allegation? Labour is sheltering numerous BNP members, and has even given them office. Ukip decided to reject these people many years ago as undesirables, but can't remove historic ones who have always behaved impeccably. What have you got to say about Straw? And what about all those (6?) Labour MPs who were actually convicted in the courts? Not just dual standards here Tony, a complete denial of Labour's position right at the centre of establishment graft!
-
What smacks of denial? Why do people hold Ukip to far higher standards than LibLabCon? A few days back you'd have been claiming Jack Straw was a paragon of virtue, but we now know that he's got his nose in the trough just like the rest of them. Nige had a prior commitment to fill and has been back for days now. Did anyone ask what Lavery was doing junketing in the USA? Despite all the establishment propaganda NF is a totally straight and committed guy. What you see is what you get. He doesn't need to mentally filter every word, and he doesn't need to evade questions, because he has no hidden agenda, and truly believe what he says. He doesn't need the money, and he doesn't need the hassle. He simply wants to save our country from a federal Europe. The establishment is very very threatened by him, and they are deeply into dirty tricks and misinformation. That's a provable reality! I feel strongly about the EU because I too was duped by that excuse for a human being Ted Heath at formative time in my life, and I really resent it. I can understand what a large section of the Tory party is doing supporting the EU, but Labour's involvement is sinister. Of course TB wanted to be Mr Europe, but there's far more to it than that. The key here is Mandelson's post-democracy. If you are looking for a Machiavelli then look there.

I'm not aware that Neil Hamilton is standing for anywhere, and he's certainly not the deputy leader! The deputy leader is university history lecturer Paul Nutall who really knows his stuff! But I do know that despite lots of scrutiny Hamilton has never been found guilty of anything. Roger Bird is a really nice guy, and is entirely innocent. http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/dec/23/ukip-general-secretary-roger-bird-cleared-sexual-harassment-natasha-bolter-inquiry The Boulter incident was a LP set-up. Not readily provable of course, but her story has been entirely discredited. Fortunately he kept all her emails, and they are there for you to read if you care to search for them. In any event, being an honourable guy he stood down to avoid any embarrassment. No, he's not suspended, nor is he standing, or holding any office at present. I'm told our local candidate is a brilliant lady, though I haven't met her yet. She's a miner's daughter from Stakeford, not one of your bussed-in politicos who has never had a real job. She will make a brilliant MP, worlds away from the dummy we are currently saddled with. If Ukip hold the balance of power, then at long last we'll have a real voice for real change. Even if that doesn't happen neither Tory nor Labour would ever take us for granted again! Electing her is a no-brainer for anyone who puts our local community before dumb party loyalty. It really doesn't matter if you agree with absolutely all the policies or not. https://www.facebook.com/Ukipwansbeckbranch/photos/a.532643526822581.1073741829.503112893108978/693655104054755/

Yup, now that there's a real alternative we are all going to have to get used to lots of defections. Minimum wage: http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/274a1f20-44c0-11e4-bce8-00144feabdc0.html#axzz3TAY8MYIE Note, that one is fully funded. We don't have to rob people's pensions for it. I hear there's a lot of unrest in the union movement about the two Ed's pension grab which will affect a lot of trade-unionists. Unsurprising, since they had no idea where they were going to get the cash from to fill their tuition fee bribe last week, and have been pushed into a quick back of a fag packet decision.

Would that be good old Oswald Mosley Tony? Went off the rails didn't he? Started off as a Tory and steadily became more and more politically extreme to end up.... Oh! Conservative Party (1918–1922) Independent (1922–1924; 1940–1948) Labour Party (1924–1931) New Party (1931–1932) British Union of Fascists (1932–1940) Union Movement (1948–1973) Isn't that Miliband's federal European Union by a slightly different moniker?

No? Thought not!

A hang-over from "the American people" that we heard with appalling regularity in their election campaign? Now in The International Spin-doctor Handbook? Latest cliché seems to be "It is right to...". Count them!
-
Good point! I think we need positive discrimination toward ethnic minorities like mermaids. Applying for a grant for an aqua-marine bus (which we'll have to pretend is some other colour, so's not to patronise sea life) with a large rock in the back. We'll use it to tour coastal towns to discuss mermaid issues, and try to "fathom" why they have mobility issues on land. I always had a thing about Torchy - uh, oh, I'm not going there! P.S. Have now found the new, Americanised, Parker, and Lady P. They seem to have done a Barbie on her!
-
Probably! It was being used as a term of abuse, so we adopted it (capital K please). Intelligent black people - of which there are many - are doing the same with the n-word, though I won't pretend that the k-word was being used anything like as offensively. The result will be that white people will be able to use it again, when it becomes fully neutralised.

Tony, Lavery is an anachronism. If he's not gone this time around he won't be around in 2020. If he had the basic intelligence to realise he was now in the wrong party he'd be worth talking to. If the Labour Party genuinely returned to its roots, and opposed the EU once again, I'd be voting for it for the first time in my life! But, what did the manipulators in your party do? They knew that they could just scrape a third of the vote, so they set the threshold for against at two to one! Now that's real democracy for you! Alex Salmond would give his right arm to get that sort of lunacy accepted. And... let's look at the Tory side of the coin: Yes, I admit it! As a stupid youngster, I swallowed the propaganda too! Note that's exactly the same LabLibCon collusion that goes on today, and exactly the same ("fruitcake and loony") tactics they still use against the people. They can't logically argue the case, so deflect the arguments and use smear tactics. You know what? Those trade unionists (and Benn) were right! But none of them could reasonably have foreseen the sinister political element, which is still on course to remove our country of its sovereignty. But, today we do have "a popular, moderate figure to play the public leadership role", and an national organisation behind him. What's it all in aid of? It's to maintain a ruling elite, and in the case of the EU a supra-national ruling elite. It has nothing to do with improving the lot of ordinary people, and is a travesty of popular democracy. It can only succeed if they can fool people like you into a meek acceptance of their system. But, it gets far more sinister if you take the time to observe where the EU is heading. The buzzword is post-democracy. What that really means is that there is a limited time window for people to come to their senses and fight to maintain popular democracy. How many times have you heard people say "they are all the same"? That's because at surface level no one can miss the truth. But that's the only the level you are permitted to observe. Vote LidLabCon and you are a patsy for the exactly the same trick. The political shenanigans is a illusion put on for mass consumption - it's the same willing mass deception as WWE Wrestling. Do yourself a favour and find out what post-democracy really amounts to!

Think Margate, and South of the end of beyond! Tories have pulled the terribly posh lady MP out and put a disaffected Kipper up as their candidate. Actually he was stupid enough to defect just before the electoral breakthroughs started, on the basis that he'd do better that way. The logic of this totally escapes me, as they are saying to tribal Tories (ones who regard Kippers with arrogant contempt) please chose between a fake Kipper, and the real thing. Maybe they're simply trying to confuse tribal Labour voters into voting Tory? Update: I tell a lie; she wasn't pulled, she quit because politics was too "aggressive" for her.

Woah, token black person, who is also token female, who looks token (pretty) hispanic! Does this represent the true depths of austerity; is this entirely PC I ask? Where are the ugly (Parker) people; where are the upper-class white females? Looking distinctly sexist / waacist / classist already. Petition on the way, and if that doesn't work we'll call Russell Brand for advice on extreme civil disobedience.

I think the sample size is about 1000, and even at the statistical extremes there's a snowball in hells chance that they've both used sound polling methods. My point is that Ashcroft doesn't reveal his polling methods, or indeed who he subcontracts to. People wonder why he splurges millions on polls when the information can be had from other organisations. It's not as if he only transmits his results to the Tories. In fact he's near fanatical about getting closer to the actual result than any of the commercial organisations. The only rationale is that he does this to build credibility, so at really critical times for the Tories he can stuff a result and be believed. Anyway, this is one that can be followed with great interest, though I suspect Ashcroft won't welcome close interest. BTW if anyone believes that I'm being the slightest bit paranoid in showing concern about EU funded propaganda, then there's 30 prominent historians who share this worry:- http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/560743/Pupils-brainwashed-believing-EU-distorted-history-lessons-European-unity EU interference in our democracy goes a lot further than that, believe me! It's becoming positively Orwellian.

You've just invited me to say: OK find me just one that ticks all those boxes? Did I say I wanted "a great big shopping centre"? It would have been nice to have maintained a reasonable selection of retailing though. The sheer volume of through-traffic says this is a reasonable wish.
-
That really would be a waste of money; there are still enough residents with a mid 20th Century mindset to leave no one in any doubt! Maybe we've got it all wrong and the only way we can establish some common purpose is to wind the clock back the full 150 years and do a living Beamish. Nope, a non-starter - too much competition from the people with all the funding up the road. You know if you wanted to curse a town you'd place it as far away from the centre of a country's power as possible. You'd site it inland of any secondary port town, so that it wouldn't see any international trade. But, you'd still site it tantalising close to a regional capital to drain any regional cultural effort. You'd ensure that the main rail route was diverted away from it it to favour the politics of local aristocracy and land owners, so that historical landed money would be spent in their favoured and posher small town nearby. You'd also arrange that the main highway routed just far enough away to make a stop-off inconvenient, and make the connection to it either painfully indirect or on poor roads. You'd place it in proximity to a slightly larger upstart in the same industry. One that could command a few more votes from any political opposition to the generally ruling party - so that even in times of political change your town had next to no voice. And, just as its principal industry was declining, you'd build half-baked new towns on the other side of it to cull whatever new enterprises could be attracted to the area. Then, just when its shopping facilities were in final decline, you'd arrange for the largest shopping centre in the nation to be built within easy travelling distance. Oh, what have I just described?

The recent Lord Ashcroft poll shows that the Tory can cling on in Thanet South, ergo Nigel Farage can't even secure his own seat, so by extension Ukip has little hope elsewhere. Either Ashcroft is lying, or he needs to demand a full refund from the (always unnamed) polling organisation. Expect lots more Tory dirty tricks between now and election time; they've got most of the media in their pockets, and Labour and the LD's selectively pulling for them too - not to mention the giant EU propaganda machine.
-
It's not an OR Tony. You can sign the petition AND vote for real change! Kippers don't do standing in the rain chanting slogans. They're for hitting the establishment where it matters - right in their six figure retainers, expense accounts, and fat pensions!
-
How dare you promote your upstart party here! Everyone knows that Graphene is just a fad, and that a vote for Graphene is a vote for Soot (the nasty, dirty, party that wants to bring back the industrial revolution). Napoleon wanted nothing more than to get his hands on us (because he had irregular balls), but as the one true national party we sent his pathetic troops sliding. Remember Graphite is a moderator; not one of your closet fissionist parties. In fact without us there'd be universal nuclear meltdown! Like Coal, Love Anthracite, Vote Graphite -- the purest and most stable form of Carbon!
-
Vote Graphite - friction free politics! We draw on all sections of the electorate, and are unarguably the only party that ticks all the boxes. Je suis carbone!

This is Chat - the mods can't touch you here for off-topic etc! But, if you do "duel" post, make sure you wear the head thingie (H&S considerations, you understand)!
