Last year they took the government's shilling..........this year they are taking the government's shilling again. The argument against was that by doing so we will actually see a massive cap busting raise when it has to come. Personally I would argue if the cuts have been real then the cost savings should reduce county rate bills anyway.............n'est pas?

As far as I know.........NCC are doing a certain number of cuts, if a parish or town council wants more they pay for them at a rate set by NCC. I thought WBTC had decided not to pay for extra cuts? It can only be a matter of time before the small councils have to cut their own grass etc. Fair enough but lets see a corresponding decrease in the NCC rates bills if we have to pay parish councils extra! Thta was the promise but that isn't what looks likely to happen!

Yep and its not as if we don't pay for the service or it used to be a service we paid for in the WDC then the NCC rates. Seems to me someone has decided to only cut about half a metre in from the roads irrespective of how much grass there is wherever.... 1 pass with the flail mower?

Keith, Its not my business but I think you might find your parish council did the beds, hanging baskets etc and its NCC who are responsible for grass cutting......unless you want to see your parish rates start to multiply.... as is the grand scheme at the moment!

Keith, I really do understand, I have been bleating on about this stuff long enough! I know how hard it is I did it long enough. Just to further complicate your analogy of a café and a coffee............"and another national enterprise opens up and hey presto a cup of coffee is 50p!" I have just read through the latest economic development planning by NCC and it makes dismal reading for places like ours! This is of course subjective, some might say the futures bright the futures !*!@# Orange. Thing is there are usually ways around everything in business you just need to know where to look!

Keith, Next time I have some government lackey asking why this area is so bad for self-employment and business start-ups I will take you along! Having said that, you are finding reasons why not to do something…………chuck that lot out of the window and find reasons why you can do something! You could make me sign a form indemnifying you of blame should FIFI become Tyson's snack? I think that might be outside your responsibility anyway, I would think you could argue exceptional circumstances beyond your control and pass litigation to Adam?
