  3. Love Northumberland Awards. (Rob Halibut, Anthony Johnston (Northumberland Wildlife Trust), Irene Webster, Keith Dalton and the Duchess of Northumberland ,Jane Percy.) The Duchess of Northumberland has helped celebrate the very best in community and voluntary environmental work across the county at a special LOVE Northumberland Awards event on Wednesday July 4. The important part of this for us is that a scheme in Gallagher Park was awarded runner up in the "Best on-going project” category. A small group of volunteers devote some of their spare time to cleaning up, reinstating paths and generally tidying up the park so the whole community can use it. Really there is only one thing to say………Well done! Friends of gallagher Park Award Certficate.pdf Always looking to recruit more volunteers and helpers the Friends of Gallagher Park hold meetings monthly. For contact details please see their Web site...FoGP

  8. Canny lass, I do the same sort of thing. Make sure you save the document in an old format, I use Word 97-2003. Using my latest 2010 leaves a trail of destruction all over the place and makes my missives unreadable to anyone else, even those with 2010! I did notice the changing type in your recent discourse.......... I disagree with Keef's prognosis sounds much more like the 'whatdeyamacallit' rather than a foo foo valve problem.
  9. I was told an accelerant was used Keith which would point to a premeditated act!
  10. That I would completely endorse and accept responsibility because I think its my generation which didn't provide the right map! Maybe we were all too busy amassing all the materialistic things we were told we had to have to have a fulfilled life!
  11. A young blonde girl in her late teens, wanting to earn some extra money for the summer, decided to hire herself out as a "handy woman” and started canvassing a nearby well-to-do neighbourhood. She went to the front door of the first house and asked the owner if he had any odd jobs for her to do. "Well, I guess I could use somebody to paint the porch” he said. "How much will you charge me?” Delighted, the girl quickly responded, "How about £50?” The man agreed and told her that the paint and brushes and everything she would need were in the garage. The man's wife, hearing the conversation, said to her husband, "Does she realize that our porch goes ALL the way around the house?” "That's a bit cynical, isn't it?” he responded. The wife replied, "You're right. I guess I'm starting to believe all those dumb blonde jokes.” A few hours later the blonde came to the door to collect her money. "You're finished already??” the startled husband asked. "Yes,” the blonde replied, "and I even had paint left over so I gave it two coats.” Impressed, the man reached into his pocket for the £50 and handed it to her along with a £10 tip. "Thank you,” the blonde said, "And, by the way, it's not a Porch, it's a Lexus.”
  12. Keef................Nope......... Merc.................Yep, any more?
  13. Merve the Swerve has OK'd another £50B worth of QE. I am at a loss as to why anyone would think this works? This now brings the total QE dosh up to £375B and what has been the result………the bankers still make huge bonuses (and fix it so they can't lose) and real people in the economy can't access investment capital? I will let one of the greatest thinkers of the 20th century decide……. Even Rubinstein now says the only real option we have is to see bankers swinging on lamp posts! And still we put up with this..............
  14. Nope..........
  15. Just trying to counterbalance Symptoms assertions that teenagers need to be horse whipped to within an inch of their lives! Some actually lead productive lives.....
  16. I agree with most of that Canny lass, only one thing it sounds as if its going down the road of an excuse. I do believe children need boundaries and I also believe they should be left to be children and not be almost forced to grow up too quickly. Of course that means parents have to be parents not try to be friends to their offspring. The problem I have with the thread title is that even if caught, and the News Post Leader reports arrests, is that they will almost get let off. Last Xmas the tree in the Market Place was vandalised and the culprits caught. They didn't even have to make restitution for the damage and instead the rate payers have had to cough up more to replace the damaged lights.
  17. How dare you..........how very dare you!
  18. Good luck........
  19. Normally a good film if he was in it..............
  20. We all know the great powerhouse of western economic activity, good old Uncle Sam,is having a resurgence and recovery in its fortunes, or that's what the Main Stream Media keep telling us. Pity the employment and unemployment figures tend towards a very different conclusion but then its nearly election time! There is at least one indicator which cannot be jury-rigged………..
  21. Adam.........I stand corrected, seems you were right about the £6.5K for grasscutting. Pleased someone is keeping their eye on the ball.............and one of our youngest members!
