  1. I believe there is an open 'police' meeting on tonight at the Sally Army. I'd be surprised if this isn't mentioned?
  2. And when they grow up............. Check out the credits.....another Monster enterprise!
  3. GGG, I think the Irish are funded until early next year but with recent upward pressure on their bonds because of their banking sector insolvency………….and your right that unequal taxation looks very iffy now! Course our banks hold a lot of their bank debt and their banks hold a lot of our commercial paper debts, explosive situation! Interestingly there is a populous move afoot in France to start a bank run there, although quite what that will achieve might be best left to our Gallic brothers to answer…….. Maybe if our close friends and allies had rallied around us in 92 when we needed it………… Seems a bit strange that at a time of massive cuts in public services our Lady of Threadneedle Street is being asked to bail out other countries, and I would expect Portugal and maybe Spain to be hard on the heels of Ireland. The problem is that with the more than apparent lack of anything resembling an innovative approach to this mess the politicos will inevitably start the printing presses up again and allow a debauching of our currency and inflation to make the resulting debts look less than fatal. I still think we will see a split in the Euro if not a complete retrenchment back to national currencies by members.
  4. Ahem...........
  5. Having nearly taken two doors off parked cars last night as they were thrown open to exit from I would agree!
  6. I don't think there is a 'solution' or at least one everyone will be happy with. There may well be making the best of a bad job, but outright solution??????? That would cost money and in this financial environment new capital costs will probably be the first thing to go as departments try and maintain what they already have. Both Ridge Terrace and the Ridge Farm entrances are less than suitable whatever way they are played out, what is needed is a ring road around the back with dedicated school entrances which would take all West End and St Benet's school traffic off the B1331 leaving only the Meadowdale traffic to contend with.
  7. Datsun Skylines & Cedrics etc had different fronts......... 140J/160J's had different bumpers. Early Bluebirds had different fronts with corner indicators. Its a 2/4 door saloon with a rubbish colour so deffo Ford or BL! Datsun's also had better colours. If we are agreeing to around 1975ish it has to be a 68-74 car?
  8. Can you see indicators at the side of the headlights?
  9. Also if it is more blue than silver, it certainly doesn't look metallic to me, it would seem to be a pastel shade dating it to the 60's very early 70's. The red one looks like Flamenco Red to me a popular Layland colour.
  10. Merc, I see where you are coming from but the edges look a little too rounded for a Datsun? Horizons had square headlights as well.
  11. In the original pic I would say the blueish car on the left might be a Mk1 Escort, possibly a ghia, the red one on the right Morris Marina or an Avenger, although I don't like the lights as they were normally square. Date.......1975 ish...
  12. Blue Chrysler Avenger there as well and they dropped off the planet almost as soon as they stopped making them new in 76............ What year... 1983
  13. Couple of MK 111 Escorts so 1980 onwards, then we have to think about them being second hand but that HA Viva van and mini clubman traveller I would think leads us to early 80's. That W123 merc was 76-85 so again early 80's.
  14. http://www.marketingmagazine.co.uk/news/1041275/Netto-rebrand-Asda-New-Year-group-tops-20bn-annual-sales/ I believe the County gave planning permission to all Tesco's bids.
  15. I personally think the Newbiggin precept is way OTT, but they are doing some pretty proactive stuff with it and if the community agrees then……….. If you really want to get into WBTC precept levels Stephen let's start with 3 simple letters…….VFM! Merlin, like the old saying goes, hard up and parish dammed! Monsta, there are 3 Parish or Town Councils for what used to be Bedlingtonshire. So Choppington, Guidepost and Stakeford are one, the Station and Cambois are another and the top end yet another. You then have a County Unitary Authority on top of those. So basically you pay your community charge to the County then whatever parish council your house sits in they charge another bit and that's the 'Parish Precept'. So if we are talking about parish councils they are pretty much independent units certainly as far as each other goes and can set their own priorities, within guidelines of course. Each one now has to take over their own area's Xmas lighting responsibility and pay for it out of their own precepts. I'll stand to be correct on that by Stephen or Dajazar……….. I'll have to stop now or I will start going on about how County have placed a low carbon economy for Northumberland as a top priority in their economic strategy yet once a year we seem intent on showing how ostentatious we can be by means of a huge carbon output! Then of course there's the double taxation issue.........
  16. See Newbiggin's got Philippa Tomson off Tyne Tess TV........... (Don't quite know if she is a weather girl, roving reporter, presenter, MD or general dogsbody she seems to do so many jobs......?)
  17. Typically Irish conundrum, everyone's lining up to help with a bailout and they are saying they don't need it. Well they don't technically now but they very soon will! I think we are different as a race, but then I think the French are as different, the Spanish, the Greeks, the Germans............ They don't call it national stereotyping for nothing, there has to be traits to base it on........
  18. Coouncil are definitely not 'skin flingting' in fact I would say quite the opposite, profligate comes to mind!
  19. New appeal concerning EU membership............
  20. I think I want a seat on your bus now Pete. Its not the theory its the practicality we need to change. http://www.channel4.com/programmes/dispatches/4od#3139895
  21. Four guys have been going to the same moose camp for many years. Two days before the group is to leave, Ron's wife puts her foot down and tells him he isn't going. Ron's friends are very upset that he can't go, but what can they do. Two days later the three get to the camping site only to find Ron sitting there with a tent set up, firewood gathered, and dinner cooking on the fire. "Dang man, how long you been here, and how did you talk your wife into letting you go?" "Well, I've been here since yesterday." "Yesterday evening, I was sitting in my chair at home and my wife came up behind me and put her hands over my eyes and said. 'guess Who?' I pulled her hands off, and she was wearing a brand new nightie. She took my hand and pulled me to our bedroom. The room had candles and rose petals all over. On the bed she had handcuffs, and ropes! She told me to tie and cuff her to the bed, and I did. And then she said, "Do whatever you want." So, here I am.
  22. Aussies, strew mate,
