  1. Steve know what your saying they say scots get free education, that's true to a certain extent but when they try to get in they usually get refused due to high demand but you can guarantee 60% of the students are from the rest of the uk or overseas paying fees Double standards but it looks good in principle...My son is in his final year at Cardiff & said to me he has got quite a few friends from Scotland studying there..He said to them why you not studying up there they told him no places, people getting there pockets full I'm afraid... Last year I had a discussion with Chuka Umuna while on a delagation in Jersey he didn't give me the answer neither ... By the way I joined the union not for political gains but to help stop people getting bullied in the workplace which occurs more & more I'm also very passionate on kids getting a good education I got a motion passed to help kids at uni...
  2. Steve I'm a union man but I would advise everybody who has children wanting to go to university to take advantage Of the Tory loan scheme before they change the rules because as it stands now ..your kids will never be able to pay it Back I know this because my kids took advantage of it & they know they will not be able to pay it back.....so thanks To the Tories my kids got the free education they deserve & urge everybody to do the same.... THEY WILL CHANGE THIS that I do know....
  3. Steve I think you missed my point most of influx of immigrants seem to hit the south east, maybe that's where most of the jobs are I don't know...what gets me is people in the north east slagging immigration!!! Hand on your heart how many immigrants are there in Bedlington ... As I said before when I lived there & loved it but I knew I had to get away to get on it didn't matter what qualifications you Had, to me personally it was jobs for the boys,I.E if your father worked somewhere & there was a vacancy there son or son in law got The job....At least that's what happened when I lived there...

  20. I guess they weren't scaffolding or steeple jaccks
  21. Symptoms, you can't do that now they would sack you on the spot,if you had a 2 hour break can't see what production gets done You can see why firms employ Eastern Europens you'd never see them having 2 hr breaks...by the way there still lots of pubs In greenwich which are packed 7 days a week locals, students, tourists etc...
  22. I live in greenwich ??. But what has walking underneath the river Thames got to do with lunch breaks unless that's what people do on There 20 min break?????
  23. Eggy that's what I tell my fellow workers the firm I work for are quite good with breaks in fact very flexi they say as long as the work is done what's required .. Unfortunately you get a few most who will grizzle at anything & in the end put in danger of jeopardising the thing we Have in place I say to them exactly what you said, guess you can't win sometimes....
  24. Kieth,I don't know we're eggy is pulling these break times from your actual time allowed is 20mins if you work more Than 6hrs goverment directive not unions,if a firm doesn't recognise unions that's what you get like it or lump it... Firms who work with unions tend to get a better deal that's a fact, when the union will discuss a deal which in the First instance will be with the lads & lasses on the shop floor & what they would like,we as union officials Will put this to management...But if management wanted to be mean they can quote goverment rules Which means you have to go with what they say, sometimes you might get something out of them as they like to Be seen to been good, theres some different rules for shift workers but not a lot of difference... What's annoying is working class people slagging unions off, maybe they should ask what they can do for them instead Of been treated like Victorian slaves because that's what's happening thatcher started it.....
  25. Vic fair comment any charity is good but it is up to individual where he or she donates I'm just saying it's just a bit of fun it's not forced
