  1. Only golf ball I can think of close enough to Simonside is: https://maps.google.com/maps?ll=55.418221,-1.768405&z=12&t=k&hl=en-US&mapclient=apiv3 RRH Brizlee Wood. Sits between Alnwick and rothbury on a hill.
  2. I'm pretty sure it's the full version, seen it on the council site but I can't seem to find it again.
  3. I think the general idea people have is when you hit a dead end with talking to relatives. I personally would only have one grandma to go to and struggle to get any further. The BBC also has a good section on tracing your family tree with instructions on how to set out the diagram with a key for which symbols to use etc I know people who have used one of the many sites for tracing family members and they seem to be happy with the information they were able to uncover. Many of the sites also offer 1 month trials before you have to pay so if you can spend the time you could potentially get quite a but done during the free trial.
  4. Use the site to see documents such as: Census Records 1841 - 1911 for England & Wales Scottish Census Records 1841 - 1911 Birth, Marriages & Death Index from 1837 to 2005 UK jParish Baptism, Marriage and Burial Records (does not include Northumberland) British Phonebooks 1880 - 1984 Extensive records from other countries British Army WWI Medal Rolls Index Cards, 1914-1920 British Army WWI Pension Records 1914-1920 British Army WWI Service Records, 1914-1920 Immigration & Travel Records In addition to records from USA, Canada, Australia and Europe. http://www.northumberland.gov.uk/Default.aspx?page=10795
  5. Total shambles thinking that nobody would notice by the sounds of things. Need to get threegee on the case for that planning portal grabber for here. On another note. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2388417/Wind-farms-paid-30-million-year-stand-idle-grid-cope-energy-produce.html
  6. Were there many at the meeting Malcolm?
  7. yeah, I passed them on the way to work the other week Keith, but I have seen them a couple of times now. They are parked on the path and fully off the road to take their dogs down the woods (a leisurely exercise which could prevent this obesity endemic that is going around), there is ample space for cars to park. The fact that the wardens have to spend their time going out there to ticket then get back elsewhere is a complete waste of time in my opinion.
  8. I have shared this on the Bedlington.co.uk Twitter and Facebook pages so if you wish others to find out then you can share it on there to let other folks know.
  9. As a guitarist, I play many gigs. Recently I was asked by a funeral director to play at a graveside service for a homeless man. He had no family or friends, so the service was to be at a pauper's cemetery in the back country. As I was not familiar with the backwoods, I got lost. I finally arrived an hour late and saw the funeral guy had evidently gone and the hearse was nowhere in sight. There were only the diggers and crew left and they were eating lunch. I felt badly and apologized to the men for being late. I went to the side of the grave and looked down and the vault lid was already in place. I didn't know what else to do, so I started to play. The workers put down their lunches and began to gather around. I played out my heart and soul for this man with no family and friends. I played like I've never played before for this homeless man. And as I played 'Amazing Grace,' the workers began to weep. They wept, I wept, we all wept together. When I finished I packed up my guitar and started for my car. Though my head hung low, my heart was full. As I opened the door to my car, I heard one of the workers say, "I never seen nothin' like that before and I've been putting in septic tanks for twenty years.” Apparently, I'm still lost… ============================== Anyone know any jokes about salt? 10. Maggie, If you are unsure of any part of the site you can scroll all the way to the bottom and there is a 'Help' link which takes you to the forum guidance pages. It sits next to the 'Mark Community Read' option at the very bottom of every page.
  11. Would that be the one that stands in the car park and doesn't move? Then you had the replacement of all of the TV aerials for pretty much everyone in Lynemouth as nobody could get a TV signal that was pointing to Pontop Pike. They're an eye sore and from what I remember if we were to run all wind powered sources in the UK at any one time we couldn't harness the energy created so building more when we can't even run all of the ones that are currently standing seems a bit stupid to me.
  12. This should link directly to the page: http://publicaccess....l=MP3L8GQS2L000
  13. Some people such as the moderators (Malcolm, Adam and myself), Administrators (Fourgee and Threegee) can not be blocked due to the user class we are in on the site. Other reasons may be that the person has deleted the thread/conversation that was started from their own personal messenger inbox. Without being able to see what you were seeing I am just clutching at straws here.
  14. If the word block appears under the name as per: This means that the person is not currently blocked and by clicking this you are blocking the person from sending you messages. If someone is already blocked then it will say 'Unblock' beneath their name. I can't see why any of the regular members would want to block anyone else here, we are all adults and if something can't be settled via conversation then there is something desperately wrong.
  15. Such a strange thing to insinuate. To block a person, whilst in 'Personal Messenger' you will click the Block option underneath their name in the top left hand corner: Alternatively you can select 'Manage Ignore Prefs' from your profile menu at the top right This takes you to the 'Ignore Preferences' within your user profile and allows you to select who you ignore and you can limit this to certain sections of the site or completely.
  16. To be fair with the option of having a Chrome browser extension that allows you to do the streaming it would be that the majority of users have a Chrome device with the capability of streaming the content to the Chromecast http://www.w3schools...wsers_stats.asp I suppose with the USB power lead it could be powered from the TV power lead as most newer TV's come with the functionality of a USB port as well as HDMI. I understand that not everyone has the USB port but all new smart phones seem to be coming with "travel adapters" (and extremely shorter cables) so the 3 pin plugs will be less of a rarity in the next year or so. I would surely prefer to pay the $35 (which will probably translate to £35 which alot of companies seem to be doing with electronics now) for a Chromecast than the premiums they are putting on SmartTV functionality on top of same models without it. I already have most of the functionality with the Xbox however with the ability to pair the Xbox YT app with my phone and search for videos using my phone to be played on the TV, iPlayer, Xbox Smartglass as a remote controller and Netflix, Sky Player, 4OD, & LoveFilm should you want 2 year old films.
  17. I have sent you a PM Maggie.
  18. Maggie the facility is there in case you receive messages you do not want from members on the site. I would guess that its not really required on here but comes as part of the forum software as standard. Its not something most people would utilise but is there to be used if people should feel the need for it. What were your concerns about it?
  19. Added a simple 'Yes' / 'No' poll to this for a basic idea of what people think.
  20. But not everyone likes to play with linux, even if the distro's come with everything out of the box. I'm sure most people will like to just have something to plug in which is recognised as a media device over the WiFi with no effort to setup at all over having to load an OS on to a memory card. Hell, it would probably take longer for most people to find where to stick the memory card to load the OS than it would for you to get a HTPC up and running.
  21. Is this still eligible if you buy via amazon from a seller? If the parcel is coming from elsewhere wasn't sure how the postage would be worked out.
  22. 400mm lens would definitely have been beneficial Was a nice weekend for it, haven't been down for a few years now. Will adhere to get myself over next year.
  23. I was under the impression that the existing building was remaining in the planning application but alas, Malcolm's comment explains all. Reminds me of a popular street artists depiction of our leaders:
  24. Was checking this out yesterday along with the Chromecast which is a very reasonable price and would be quite usable. https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=chromecast
  25. Apparently the Ouya is getting raving reviews for a gaming platform but can be sideloaded to run XBMC for a media centre application. Also http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/xbmc-os-on-stealth-nighthawk-f-117a-tvdongle/ From one of the creators of RaspBMC I do believe.
