  5. This Saturday I'm holding a Race Night at Bedlington Social Club to raise funds for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. Last years event raised over £3,000 and I'm hoping for something close to that amount again. Tickets are £5 each and a limited number will be available on the door, so please get there early to avoid disappointment. There will also be the opportunity to have your picture taken with the Olympic Torch, and the opportunity to bid for a signed and framed NUFC shirt, including bobby Robson and Alan Shearers autogrpahs (including others). For full details....http://racenight.moonfruit.com

  9. Good luck for the parade. I hope to be there to see it, I think I'm the only person from Bedlington given the honour of carrying the torch, but my torch carrying stint has been allocated in North Shields at around 3pm. I'm not sure what the itinerary is before carrying the torch so I may already be through that way. Good luck to those organising the event, it sounds fantastic!
  10. Fingers crossed! Really enjoyed listening on the rare occassions I get to put the radio on! Good luck with the fund raising!
  11. Charity Race Night in aid of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. Bedlington Social Club (Market Place). Doors open @ 19:00. For tickets and further information, visit http://racenight.moonfruit.com.
  12. Two weeks after carrying the Olympic Torch, I'm organising a Race Night at Bedlington Social Club on 30th June to raise much eneded funds for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. The charity is working towards a cure for all types of blood cancers, diseases which affect too many people, even in our small town, myself includied. Last years event was an outstanding success with over £3,000 raised on the night and just as importantly, everyone having a brilliant time. And its because of this that I've happily bowed to public pressure to organise a second race night. Posters are up in various businesses around the town advertising the night and with tickets at only £5 each you can't afford to miss out! All of the profits go directly to the charity, only the purchase of the race videos are funded from the ticket sales. I've setup a website which tells you about the night along with a little bit about me and how I've been affected by Leukaemia. Tickets can be purchased online for the night or alternatively ring me if you are located in Bedlington and I can hand deliver. http://racenight.moonfruit.com With a huge amount of raffle prizes also up for grabs on the night we have all the ingredients once again for a successful event. I truly hope that the people of Bedlington come out and support this event, I promise that you'll have a brilliant time! Doors open at 7pm on the night.
  13. Heard a whisper that there are plans for a wind farm near to The Swan and behindthe Hazelmere Estate, does anyone else have more info?
  14. Thanks to everyone who came along today, fantastic weather for a fantastic day. Everybody seemed to enjoy the new way that we're trying to do things, its certainly the first of many days like that! Can you let me know your thoughts on the day if you were there, what worked, what didn't work and what would you like us to add to the days events????
  15. Keith, I think its £5 and £3, or it might be £5 and £2. Its my first match of the season so I'm not 100%!
  16. Saturday 20th August isn't just a big derby day for the Tyne and Wearsiders, it also sees Bedlington kick off their FA Cup campaign with a home match against Whickham. The doors open at 1pm with a juniors match on before the main event. There will be face painters and a half time penalty shoot out competition for children to take part in. Its sure to be a fantastic afternoon of local football, and with some American visitors coming to town, its our chance to show them what we're made of! The FA Cup game kicks off at 3pm.
  17. I'm hoping the people of Bedlington can come out in force and help me to raise money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research in the hope that in some point in the future they will have helped find a cure for blood cancers....and hence a cure for me. There will be 8 races on the night to bet on and the doors open at 7.00 for a 7.30 start in Bedlington Market Place Social Club. Tickets are £5 each and are available from behind the bar in the club or by ringing me on 07843 602392. I really hope you can make it on the night and join in the fun!
  18. In October 2010, at the ripe old age of 31, I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia. A Bedlington lad all my life, my thoughts quickly turned to raising money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, a registered national charity to help aid research to find a cure for blood cancers. On Saturday 11th June, I'm organising a Charity Race Night at Bedlington Market Place Social Club, with doors opening at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Tickets are only £5 each and its going to be a fantastic night with great prizes and money to be won. Tickets can be bought from behind the bar in the club, or by contacting me on 07843 602392. Chris "Foggy" Bartlett is also selling tickets, he can be contacted on 07824 558579. There are a limited number of horses available to sponsor priced at £5 or £10 depending on the prize, its a 1 in 8 chance of winning the prize (gift hampers, £100 cash, £50 cash or £50 Zuenziga spa voucher), PM me to find out more. Also in June I'm doing a 140 mile Coast to Coast bike ride, if you would like to sponsor me in the build up, please visit www.justgiving.com/2011c2c. And then, it'll be onto the Great North Run training for September! Race Night Poster.pdf
