St. George's Day Charity Event

Ever wondered why noone seems to celebrate St George's day but come March everyone is donning green attire , wearing stupid hats and drinking enough to give an elephant liver failure?

Yeah so have we. Things need to change.

So 2009 is the time to celebrate your 'Englishness' in style, (on the day of our patron saint) by dressing up like a fool, getting drunk and listening to some live music.

Sound fun?

The 3 bands playing:

-------------------------

- False Miracles : Playing their first gig back after 2 years away, you'll have to make your own mind up on how the 'Miracles' have improved/developed. Metal stylings and dragon-style roars combine with melodic vocals to create a unique take on an often-stale genre.

- Jake Bullit : Your friendly-neighbourhood Punk Band returns with yet another instalment of adrenaline fuelled, ear piercingly heavy, grunge/alt based punk rock that would make even the Mighty Dragon Slayer himself cower in his boots...

**** Stolen Tom will no longer be playing, but will be replaced by a superb Rage Against The Machine Tribute band, well known as Renegades!! www.renegadesband.co.uk www.myspace.com/renegadessalute ****

Fancy Dress

Must be England Themed

Ideas for costumes :

- St George / The Dragon

- Winston Churchill

- Sherlock Holmes

- Famous English Sports Personalitys

- A London Bus

... basically anyone/anything decidedly English.

Random Prizes for innovation or just sheer hilarity.

Live DJ

Mr Mick Keen will be providing us with some of the finest in alt/rock/punk/metal/indie music for your enjoyment.

Food (not just tea and scones)

------

And its all for a very good local cause at Wansbeck Hospital.

What more could you ask for?

So don that red and white (and we don't just mean a Sunderland Shirt) and get yourself along.

UPSTAIRS at the community centre.
