Off topic but will Diesel/Petrol and a greggs pasty still be affordable in 2015?

Petrol and diesel have dominated the news headlines over the last few days. This email update is to let you know our take on the situation and to ask you for a little help.

Here is how we see it:

The real 'fuel crisis' is not the current particular dispute between the tanker drivers and their employers. Important as it is to see this dispute resolved fairly and quickly, the real 'fuel crisis' is the scandalously high price that families and businesses are having to pay for petrol & diesel. This will be made worse by the fact that the Government waived through in the Budget another 16p a gallon in fuel taxes to hit us all this summer.

The reaction to the possible disruption to fuel supplies has surely showed the Government one thing …. PETROL & DIESEL ARE ABSOLUTELY VITAL TO FAMILIES, BUSINESSES AND THE ENTIRE ECONOMY. Our argument is that forcing up prices by increasing fuel duty is hurting families, damaging business and holding back growth. All our polling shows that fuel tax is the nation's number 1 priority and recent figures have showed that Britain's economy is hardly growing at all. The Government is investing hundreds of millions of pounds in 'job creation' to fight unemployment. As well as truly understanding the suffering that high petrol & diesel prices are causing, they need to listen to our research which clearly shows that CUTTING FUEL DUTY is the most effective way of creating jobs and boosting growth. If you have not done so already, please see the evidence at http://fairfueluk.com/cebr.html

Some people have asked why FairFuelUK doesn't support the idea of hauliers and farmers 'blockading' refineries and stopping the flow of fuel to protest about high prices. Please go to this link for a review of the Campaign's position.

Over the next few weeks, we will be fighting in Parliament to see the 16p a gallon increase, waived through in the Budget speech, scrapped and to make the Government see that it should be cutting fuel duty, not raising it!

We need your help to give us the power to make the politicians listen. We are fortunate to be supported by the RAC, the Road Haulage Association, the Freight Transport Association and The Fuelcard Company. On top of that, we have over 235,000 individual supporters like you. That figure of 235,000 is impressive – but it needs to be so much higher! This is where we need your help. There are 30 million motorists in the country. We need to spread the word to those millions of potential supporters that they don't need to go and 'blockade'. What they need to do is sign up to www.fairfueluk.com so that the Government realise they are facing a massive and growing movement of public opinion.

Please, as a matter of urgency do these three simple things:

1. Please ask everyone you know to sign up to www.fairfuleuk.com – every extra signup (it's free and only takes a few seconds) really does make our argument more powerful. There's a simple copy and paste email below that you can send to your address book.

2. Help us spread word of the campaign by a powerful showing of our 'CUT FUEL DUTY NOW' sticker campaign. You can order them here http://fairfueluk.com/sticker___donations.html

3. Please post your experiences and comments on our blog at http://fairfueluk.com/quentins_blog.php so that we can see how the price of petrol & diesel are affecting you.

We had some success last year defeating over 9p per litre of rises in fuel duty. We were hugely disappointed that the chancellor ignored our calls in the recent Budget but with your help and support, the fight goes on!

Kind regards,

The FairFuelUK Team

I've signed up to www.fairfueluk.com – the nation's leading campaign group fighting for a cut in tax on petrol and diesel. Looks like were thinking on the same wavelength Cyril, but there are still tickets left for the "Guess the Year of Removal" competition, Why not try your luck? First prize is a Gallon of Diesel and the lucky runner up will receive a Hot Pasty from Greggs. :icecream:

 just a small detail will the VAT be paid on the hot pasty?

Does this government or ANY government for that matter not realise the cost of fuel is the lifeblood of the country and it effects ALL of us in all sorts of ways.

Its a knocking bet that if the costs keep rising it will cripple our economy and it WILL put thousands more on the dole..........

poor innocent casualties of GREED...........

Or the Toxic Waste dump as others call it Malcolm.

Adam you couldn't be closer to the truth if you tried, there's stuff buried on the Cleanaway site that nobody and I mean nobody knows about! Well except a few COONCILLORS with bulging back pockets!

When I was nicking stuff off the landfill, I would be there at 5am! Bearing in mind this site did not open till 8am,I/We used to ask the question what the **** a low loader was doing on the site at 5am with loads of forty gallon drums on, with the Spikey Bike driver digging a hole in the middle of the tip! This happened at least once a week during the tip's life span! So Adam your guess is as good as mine, but my guess is it was highly illegal and highly profitable to some cooncillor, AND a TICKING TIME BOMB!

Already a member and am sick of being robbed at pump point everytime I need fuel, I've done less than 200 miles and put £45 in the car !!!! On another note, in north Northumberland I could not find a petrol station near to Alnwick after finding due to panic buying, the one and only station in Alnwick was empty, we ended up driving very carefully to the only other one I could think of (in Amble) after trying all the little towns and back roads in hope of a filling station (a journey of 27 miles from Alnwick, plus return = 50 + miles) I actually should have just driven back to Morpeth, filled up and driven back to Alnwick (well Thrunton woods where the caravan is), the main point being Where the hell are all the petrol stations in North Northumberland ????

Yet again another developer in Bedlington has put to much money into a site they will not get the money back on, with Elliots Garage the site needs the tanks removed still to do, which will be costly and also the back of the site needs reinforcing to stop an subsidence which could damage the Market place club flat and the forge, best thing he could do is put a for sale sign on the site and wait for somebody else to buy it.

I'm not sure who actually 'owns' the site because although Barry Elliott was redeveloping it I dont think it was in his name as his bank loan has been recalled by RBS and the properties he owned sold at auction on Wednesday night which didnt include the Bedlington site.

The accounts for the company he currently trades under with his wife as director also do not hold the site as either a fixed or current asset.

If you look at his past corporate behaviour within various companies, IMO he should never have been able to buy (?) the place and try to redevelop it.

According to the Land Registry, the site is owned by B W ELLIOTT LIMITED (Co. Regn. No. 7150325) - company director Tracey Elliott. The lender was David Mutch. So legally it isn't Barry Elliott and the lender wasn't RBS, which may be why it didn't show up in the auction?

Hhmmm... http://bizzy.co.uk/u...325/b-w-elliott

and... why set up a new company which hasn't filed accounts (yet)?

Blyth Terra Limited

Tracey Elliott has been an officer of both companies.

Oh dear, oh dear!

From the scant trail on the web looks like they were trying to operate SM pick and place machines (some link with Welwyn Systems here?). That's not the sort of thing anyone in the UK can make money from these days. If they'd asked I'd have given them some free consultancy! :D

Ah, so they sold s/h pick and place machines, not used them. And yes, there was at least one link with Welwyn Systems.

Pity really as it's the sort of industry we need. If the football team were actual employees they appeared to have been distinctly overstaffed for a company of that size. Also, I'm not to sure I'd have farmed out my software to a company which offered "Pattern Programs wrote from BOM's"! :D
