Tonight at 7.30.

Jez Lowe is top of the bill.

Beeswing and Anne Sessoms will be telling the tale of the pit disaster that happened in 1862.

Nearly the entire workforce of the village was killed

No part of New Hartley Colliery was left standing after it closed, however there is a memorial to those who died in the disaster in Earsdon.

The only thing left of it is what i think is the filled and capped shaft.

Type into google map this: 55° 5' 15" N, 1° 31' 42" W

I think this will be the old shaft of New Hartley Colliery.
