Can someone tell me what has happened with the building work on the former garage site.

That's a relief as it's currently a bit of an eyesore.

Going to restart in the very near future...............according to the owner.

Toilet paper out when he said that Malcolm?

....and still we wait!   Why do we have to endure this eyesore - pull it down and turn the area into a park where Bedlingtonians can rest a while.

Could not agree with you more tomtom, I would prefer another one or two business units there myself to help Bedlington's economic growth but sadly that will never happen.

The council aren't saying much about this - just WHAT so they know?

Again which chuffing council? ..............................

You have the most up to date information the Town Council were given by the owner.

If you mean the county council who have authority on all planning matters then you need to ask them but please differentiate between councils.

Which was......."You'll see a lot of activity after Xmas And we should be up and running at the beginning of July"...  And if that happens then Foxy's a*se is in Fenwicks window again. :|

Hopefully not another false dawn however there were workers on site earlier today.

I passed today and there was some noise emanating from the site. There appear to be some rafters on the roof as well, although they may have already been there a while as I hardly pay attention to the eyesore everytime I pass.

Regardless of what the site is going to be, and it could have been put to better use than more housing, it just needs to be finished so that one side of the road of the Market Place does not like like a ghost town.

ALL of the info on why this site has stood so long is coming out in the next WBTC newsletter.

It's being put before you for you to make your minds up because of the discrepancies in the explanations.

When is the next meeting Malcolm?

Indeed, I noticed a van there yesterday, couldn't see much going on though!

Hope springs eternal as they say. About time this eyesore was sorted out once and for all.

the only thing which concerns me is there is only a couple of men working on roof......which to me means they just want to get the building sealed/dry

This site could be bought by Arch for a hotel.

Somebody must be paying the men on the roof so one presumes someone has a plan that we have not been told about.

With unfinished sites like this one and the old school building at the end of Church Lane is it little wonder there is no investment in the town? and of course to counteract the flower tubs etc we have litter all over the place - the lane from the Market Tavern to the car park is a bloody disgrace.

This maybe seen as moaning tomtom.

My opinion is we need to moan because otherwise no one may notice how bad things have become in the heart of our much loved town.

Moan, make a noise, what's the worst that can happen 'Nowt'

That is what we have now 'Nowt to lose'

upsticks and off could be a reasonable move....to pastures greener me thinks
