Canny lass Posted May 8, 2015 Report Posted May 8, 2015 You're all very quiet on here today! Tired after sitting up half the night watching the results come in? Too disappointed with the result to get out of bed this morning? Speechless with joy? let's hear your thoughts on the result!
Canny lass Posted May 8, 2015 Author Report Posted May 8, 2015 Welcome to the forum Sianabix. My own personal thoughts on the matter are that if ever there was a result that showed the need for a reform in favour of proportional representation then this has to be it!
Reedy Posted May 8, 2015 Report Posted May 8, 2015 What's the hold up with Wansbeck and Blyth counts? Sunderland declared in 50 minutes.
threegee Posted May 8, 2015 Report Posted May 8, 2015 Simples: The Greed & Fear Party trumps the Jealousy & Envy Party, ably assisted by both idiot trade unionists (who though they could bring back the 1970's), and an alien nationalist party who obligingly provided a double helping of fear. However, there's a proper democratic party on the scene polling millions of votes, and the tired old Europe-at-any-price & Pretend-to-be-Democrats Party is now a very poor fourth and no longer in the running. And, in the coming weeks... Welcome to New-Old-New Labour. Yes, Teflon Tony is back in all but name. "Things... can only get better... can only get better..." (for crony capitalism). 1
Maggie/915 Posted May 8, 2015 Report Posted May 8, 2015 Okay not the result that most people on this site wanted but last night was far from boring. Why oh why do our local counts start so late?Nine o clock this morning it seems they started to count. We were one of the last results to be announced.
Symptoms Posted May 8, 2015 Report Posted May 8, 2015 (edited) Reedy wrote: "What's the hold up with Wansbeck and Blyth counts? Sunderland declared in 50 minutes." Sunderland is a small grubby village so the X's were easy to collect and count-up, infact, the locals thought they had to sign their names on the chit ... and they did (X's, get it?). As to the National picture and what the Tories will do, let me paraphrase Thatcher's 1979 misquote of St. Francis of Assisi: Where there is harmony, may we bring discord. Where there is truth, may we bring lies. Where there is faith, may we bring doubt. Where there is hope, may we bring dispair. Where there is an NHS, may we sell it to the Yankee hedgefunds and insurance companies. Where there is social housing, may we evict the sods and sell the stuff off. Where we find gimps, may we confiscate their crutches and mobility scooters. Where we find 30 nippers in a class, may we up the number to 50. Where we find qualified teachers, may we replace them with the unqualified. Where we find apprenticeships, may we send them all up chimneys. Where we find loot, may we keep it all for ourselves or give it to our friends." Be afraid, be very afraid! Edited May 8, 2015 by Symptoms
