More people in Northumberland voted to leave the EU – a 8.21% majority.

 

96,699 Votes to leave

82,022  Votes to remain

14,677 Majority

A total of 178,721 people voted, representing 74.32% of the 240,480 electorate. .

Nothing like as big a majority as in other parts of the NE.

Won't be too many years before most of those 82K realise that they have a lot to thank the other 97K for!  Older and wiser heads prevailing is seldom a bad thing.

I totally agree, I was expecting a much bigger out vote for out area, 

was Wansbeck Blyth, Morpeth Hexham  etc all combined as Northumberland ? if so could this  affect the way thinks look for the out numbers.

I think the single word answer is probably farming.  The UK is full of people the EU buys with our own money; that's how the cancer of (super)state dependence spreads..
