Rigger Posted January 23, 2018 Report Posted January 23, 2018 Can anyone tell me where Foggans Yard in Bedlington was? Is a photo of Foggans Yard available? The place comes up in some work I am doing and I am not sure where it was. Any help appreciated.
Andy Millne Posted January 23, 2018 Report Posted January 23, 2018 There's two topics with references to Foggan's yard I can find (excluding yours )
ex Bedlingtonian Posted January 23, 2018 Report Posted January 23, 2018 Isn't Ashianas a bit further down the block, more to the right of the entrance to Foggans Yard. I think the TSB is on the corner where the fish shop was.
Rigger Posted January 23, 2018 Author Report Posted January 23, 2018 Thanks for the infromation and the picture . Did the shop become Joe Alsop barbers??

Rigger Posted January 23, 2018 Author Report Posted January 23, 2018 Used to get my hair cut there. When getting my hair cut as a youngster I heard the expression 'something for the weekend sir'. I had to ask my dad what it meant!, was he embarressed. 1
moe19 Posted January 25, 2018 Report Posted January 25, 2018 Is that Foggans yard through the archway ? I can remember going to the Council yard workshops /stores in that place many years ago to get a new grate for the fire, for some reason I thought it was called Bells yard
John Fox (foxy) Posted January 25, 2018 Report Posted January 25, 2018 I think Bells yard was further down, where Moods now has a shop. I have been known to be wrong, Eggy might know better, If not I'll bet he finds out!! 1

Can't help with a Bell's Yard - there is still Bells Place down Front Street east - the old maps back to 1865 also show it as Bells Place - there is an archway but have no idea if it was ever known locally as Bell's yard
moe19 Posted January 27, 2018 Report Posted January 27, 2018 (edited) In this old post Keith seems to confirm what John posted Edited January 27, 2018 by moe19 1
