January 24, 20188 yr Popular Post Born in Bedlington and lived in the Riggs until 1969 and left the area when I was 22. Went to Westridge and served electrical apprenticeship at the Doctor Pit. Played football for Bedlington Juniors. Sadly left the area to find work at Kellingley Colliery, Yorkshire and never came back to live, but have always taken an interest in the town. This is a great site and I am enjoying my involvement and the help. Interests - family history and researching soldiers from Bedlington who died in WW1, in particular those listed in the Record of Enlistements. Living in Scotland.

September 1, 20187 yr Hi Derek - I can't recall your family name from the Riggs; the only lad I knew from South Riggs was Norman Dunn - you might have lived next door to the Dunns according to Google Maps.. Alan Greenacre from Nether Riggs was another friend as was Jack Dixon's son Ian (the Dixons lived next door to us in East Riggs). Jack died earlier this year aged 92 ... I'm still in contact with Ian and his sister Carol. We lived in the Riggs from 61 to 69.
