Ford House, Bedlington

Featured Replies

While checking some Probate records I came across the following address - Ford House, 2, St Cuthberts Crescent, Bedlington.  Having lived in Bedlington many years ago I do not recall this address.  Can anyone give me information on this.  Thanks

Any idea which year? It popped up for one of my relatives as well and I think it may have been  in the Humford area but I haven't been able to verify it yet.

I've only ever known St. Cuthbert's Terrace, opposite Hirst Villas.

The year was 1949. The family had lived at Hirst Terrace at one time.  Was it a hospice or similar

I may have mislead you with my post. Ford House I've never heard mentioned. It's St Cuthbert's Crescent I'm looking for. The search is still ongoing but If I find it I'll post here. Perhaps you could do the same?

Ford House, St, Cuthberts Crescent was shown on two Probate records for two separate members of the McGlen family.  I have looked at the available maps wirhout success.  I am still looking.

The 1939 register shows a McGlen family living at No 2 St Cuthbert’s Terrace. Obviously I don’t know if they are related to your subjects.

What register would that be, Newbedders?

I'm looking for the crescent and I have a family member born there in 1899 at number 4. I'm also searching maps but not having any luck.

The 1939 was a sort of census performed just before WW2 possibly prior to Identity cards being issued. Members of the McGlen family are actually listed within 3 relatively close addresses: St Cuthbert’s Tce, Millbank Cres and Beech Grove. However there are no results using St Cuthbert’s Crescent as the address.

Thanks, That ties up.  I will follow that up, I think I have some credits.
