Kielder! There's a castle and new maze (both free) and a fantastic Bird of Prey centre: http://www.discoverit.co.uk/falconry/

I like the blue reef aquarium in Tynemouth also... there's lots of fish and amphibians, plus now they've got loads of otters too:

Couple that up with an afternoon at St Mary's Lighthouse and you've got a grand day out!

Or places up in the Simonside Hills are always nice for a paddle in the river and an excavation of an Iron Age Hill fort?

However, if you're feeling a bit adventurous there's offers on http://www.megatrain.com/uk/ that can get you the train from Morpeth to Edinburgh for the day for only £1! Maybe some other places too! Not bad... well, it beats Cambois beach anyday...

http://www.diggerland.com is a good day out too apparently

Oh! I did a day out at Diggerland a few years back... except it only lasted 90mins and cost me more than £50! (excluding Slush Puppies)

And the rides have been known to kill people!

And it was dusty and dirty too

I`m not suprised at that..considering they let bairns drive the diggers!

I recently looked a hiring a caravan at Sandy Bay because me and the wife want to come up and visit the Family that still live in Bedlington.

To my surprise they want £600 a week for a caravan on that site unless you go in September when its £300.

Does anyone know of any other sites of B and B's in the area?

Cheers Pete
