Lynne Thompson Posted October 17 Report Posted October 17 Does anyone know where Church Road was in Bedlington. I know Church Lane is still there, but I am assuming Church Road was demolished at some point?
Canny lass Posted October 17 Report Posted October 17 (edited) Hi Lynne, In all the census records from 1841 to 1921 there is no Church Road. There is however a Church Row. Much depends on where you found the name and the year it was written. 'Row' is quite often wrongly transcribed to 'Road' when documents are transcribed for digitalisation. In 1861 Church Row housed 15 families but by 1871 this was reduced to 9 families. Here it is on a map from 1860. As you can see it is located at the entrance to what is now Church Lane. Alan Edgar (Eggy1948) Posted October 17 Report Posted October 17 @Lynne Thompson & @Canny lass a little bit clearer on this 1860 map ;- 1
Lynne Thompson Posted October 23 Author Report Posted October 23 Canny Lass, you mention how many people were living in church row on a particular date. How do you find this information. Eg. If I wanted to know who lived in allgood terrace in a particular year, how do I find out?
Tonyp Posted October 23 Report Posted October 23 You can get the census records online from 100 years ago think it ancestry but you have to pay monthly subscription fee sometimes 1st month is free
Tonyp Posted October 23 Report Posted October 23 Hope it’s helpful you can go back every 10 years of the census but I believe you can only look at the records that are 100 years old & later but I’m not 100% sure
